Update 11.24.24: issue setting routines. Unreliable implementation of routines. This would be better if you could customize the wake word. Also, I keep having to uninstall and reinstall to stop the app from "freezing" up and not playing my routines. Usually discovered after I wake up late for work. Most of the routines have frozen up. Cannot trust Echo Dot or Show to wake me up. Very expensive alarm that doesn't work.

I used yo like the device. But, I'm very disappointed now as it doesn't always answer my questions correctly. Sometimes when I make a request, it doesn't respond, yet the blue light displays indicating it recognizes it's been called. If I ask about current weather conditions, it provides the opposite of what it is. It recently started changing the volume on its own, sometimes so low I can't hear it. I got as part of a promotion. If I needed to replace it, I would NEVER buy Alexa again!

Smart home devices often have problems connecting or staying connected to Alexa, particularly after changing modems. The conditional parameters for routines are too simple. Echos will frequently "mishears" requests, will respond at times without⁵ the awake word, and provide irrelevant information to many questions. Alexa does well at setting timers, alarms, and reminders, telling time, temperature, and weather forcast, and controlling devices when they are properly connected.
