User reviews
Users appreciate TTS Reader's support for various book formats, customizability, and its ability to remember reading positions. However, frequent crashes, lack of cursor control for starting reading points, absence of text highlighting during playback, and navigation inconsistencies are recurring issues. Users desire improved interaction features such as highlighting, better navigation controls, and options to exclude headers and footers for a smoother listening experience.
Pros
- Reads aloud as advertised supporting multiple file formats like PDF, EPUB, and FB2.
- Remembers the position where the user stopped and can continue from there.
- Highly customizable with various settings including voice adjustment and sorting features.
- Minimal ads and free to use with ability to use external TTS engines.
- Allows users to listen to books while multitasking, enhancing convenience.
Cons
- App occasionally crashes or closes immediately upon opening, causing frustration.
- Lacks an easy way to start reading from a selected point or cursor within the text.
- Does not highlight the text currently being read aloud, making it hard to track reading position.
- Issues with navigation such as inconsistent page turning and difficulty recentering page after swiping.
- Problems with handling headers, footers, and inability to exclude them from reading, disrupting flow.
