Ok, so I actually really enjoy this game a ton, but I think it could definitely be improved. The first thing is entering the ruins and the quests, they don't really matter once you reach level fifty or so, which just makes it a waste of energy. Next is leveling up your items... I have a blood sword that deals about a MILLION damage... So if you just make weapon leveling a bit worse, and made the quests scale better, this game would be so much better than it already is.
It's in the name. The game is extremely simple. The microtransactions aren't intrusive or necessary to play the game so that's nice. Kind of satisfying leveling system. Few updates could make the game better, like customization or having a skill tree of some sort or maybe a stat system like Fallout (S.P.E.C.I.A.L.).
Updating my review after more updates to the game have happened. The rebalance still seems rather pointless to me, but given that things are at least explained now I can't really complain about it (I doubt I would even care at all if I'd started after the rebalance, rather than before). However, the game still has a lot of flaws. The gear upgrading system is straight up terrible. Each piece of gear can be upgraded up to +100. This isn't the problem. The problem is that each time you attempt to upgrade your items you have a 10% (5% if you shell out for King) to trigger a skill "game", which if you fail outright destroys your item. Not only is this annoying, it's utterly pointless as all it does is waste your time. It doesn't take very long to get to a point in the game where you have way more money than you need, so an item being destroyed just means you have to go buy another and try again (and again, and again, and again) to get the item upgraded. This is NOT a request to make money matter for this. Gear being destroyed on failed upgrades is one of the laziest and shittiest ways to "balance" gear upgrade systems. And the gear system isn't well thought out either. Early on there's a bunch of gear upgrades clumped together in terms of level requirements, when you're often leveling up really quickly (and are thus unlikely to actually bother upgrading your gear's pluses). But then there are huge gaps later on, when leveling slows down to a snails pace, further slowing down your ability to progress, as you'll often have to grind the same enemy for several hundred levels to equip the gear necessary to start grinding the next enemy. As a particularly egregious example, the best shield requires level 1337. The second best shield requires level 250. It really feels like the game is balanced around the paid "King" option, which speeds up grinding by an insane amount (it quadruples energy gain, meaning you can fight once per second instead of once per four seconds, and also boosts exp gained by 50%). This wouldn't be so bad except that King costs either $1/week, or $10 once. Remember that this game has no graphics, only text, and the entirely gameplay consists of tapping on the name of the monster you want to fight and being told whether or not you won. Oh, and there's also a separate "Support the developer" button that's just for if you feel nice and want to give the developer even more money. Overall it's an okay timewaster to start, but quickly gets to the point where if you're not leaving your phone on overnight with the app running you won't progress without shelling out for King, and even then you might have to start leaving your phone on overnight, just at a later point.
