2024-07-17 | Christian Biere | There were some server problems but this was fixed just after reporting it. The app may look a bit plain or even old school but I find it just as effective as more modern apps to learn a language to a basic degree.. This app is also very affordable. It offers a lot of languages and combinations that others don't. Also I find the option to record my pronunciation and rely on my own listening just as good if not better than letting an algorithm decide whether my pronunciation is good enough.
2022-10-27 | Ben Wald | Just installed the app - the first thing I get is an error message: You denied permissions PERMANENTLY. So the app CANNOT WORK anymore. To use the app again go to Settings > Apps > STEPS in 50 languages > Storage > Clear Data. Then run the app again and give permissions. I never got the permissions prompt to begin with and even after clearing the apps data it doesn't work. My phone is on android standard settings and everything else works perfectly fine.
2022-07-24 | Tanya Henson | It's ok, but not great. The feedback is awkward and minimalist. Duolingo is good for kids. Speekoo (hate the name, love the app) is good for teens and adults. They both give great feedback. I felt like I could progress faster with Speekoo.
2022-05-31 | B.m.a.h mohammed | Incredibly amazing!!!!! I still don't know why many people aren't using this awesome app! It literally provides so many valuable materials like audios, notes, images, transliteration, etc basically all we need and helps you make progress step by step in learning different languages. Fun fact : you can learn multiple languages at a single time, just don't forget to save your progress! Overall a wonderful experience it's just been a day using and i m loving it :)) A huge thanks!!
2022-03-08 | Alexandra Henderson | I like the app but it's placement test makes it easy to pass lots of lessons. Granted I can read every for of Cyrillic alphabets but that shouldn't mean I was able to pass into lesson 11 of Ukrainian. most of the answers I got right were from basic linguistic analysis. I don't actually recognize those words 😂.
2021-11-19 | Olga Baldassi | I'm totally blind and always wanted to learn Chinese. I found out about the 50languages courses, and installed the app. Great accessibility (finally!), easy to use, and really helpful. Thaoks dev's! I'll recommend it to my blind friend who want to learn languages.
2021-01-17 | Winston Posegate | I appreciate that this app provides extensive content broken down into short, reliable lessons and that Armenian is one of the languages offered. However, the app itself doesn't seem to provide any method for user feedback, such as when the audio recording and the text displayed don't match, when the translation is inaccurate, or when we have some other suggestion for improvement; this is why I am commenting here now. Overall, I recommend this app for daily language study, even for busy people.
2021-01-16 | E.A. Stanley | Honestly, this app could be really, really good BUT everything is so scattered and cluttered that it is too hard to navigate. There are no real clear goals or guides, just tons of options to select blindly. I wish I could rely on it specifically, as it is hard to find apps that teach EU Portuguese, but it is too confusing and messy to use as a consistent learning tool. At this point I'm really only using it for the radio even though I wish I could use it for more. Sorry y'all!
2020-06-30 | aya Hassibe | It's beautiful but in my opinion it needs some additions. If you add a progress saver to the free version, the app will be so awesome. Because I need to learn french and spanish together and when I go back to change the languages setting from french to spanish, my progress would be deleted and this is the worst part in the app. I hope you to edit this function to be better than that and to be able to track my progress with different languages like many other famous apps.
2020-05-27 | Juho Kuusela | The biggest flaw in the UI is that it defaults to system language, and it can not be changed. This in itself wouldn't be that bad, if the translation was decent. However, I had to think what every single option in the menu could be in English, before I managed to use the app. Instructions and menu options seemed confusing, mostly due to mixed use of imperative and basic forms of verbs. Note to future translator(s): I can think no way "to extract" translates to "lakkauttaa", as the sentence "sanasto lakkautetaan" makes no sense and sounds like something bad is about to happen (the English version of the sentence was "vocabulary will be extracted"). Also, I may be spoiled for more rapid learning, as I found the progression in learning be too slow for my taste. Being interrupted by tips after each step didn't help, even though you can disable them by ticking the box. |
