2024-10-13 | Lexie W | Used to work much better across all functions with my K-S2, now is only acceptable as a remote control. I can't get images to sync for transfer at all on Samsung Galaxy S20. Disappointing but tolerable since the app is only an optional extension of the camera- if I were a pro (like on a K-1 or K-3iii) I'd be really upset.
2024-09-21 | Raoul Simon | Ricoh GR user (currently 3) for quite some time and though this app has improved throughout my usage, it's still a inconsistent and oftentimes frustrating experience. Despite pairing, it's still a choir for communication to be established between camera (GR 3) and phone (Pixel 9 pro XL) without it dropping. It seems to work better on iOS than Android. Quicker and easier to use a USB-C SD CARD dongle to take pictures off. Also connection will drain your GR 3 battery significantly.
2024-03-01 | Knotty Woodpecker | Confusing, until it works. K3iii: must enable Bluetooth and location on phone, and also allow wifi connection and permissions. Use Bluetooth to initiate connection, and it will auto-enable wifi for communication. Phone must know updated location before it will connect. To transfer jpgs, you must have jpgs saved on the card, or RAW+jpg. RAW trasfer is slow. I suggest reducing jpg file size to S if shooting RAW+. Auto-transfer only works with jpg. Remote control and remote live view works well.
2023-08-20 | j G | I shouldn't rate this as I just ordered a K-70, ONLY, as an upgrade over my K-50 (and old Kr) to be able to transfer pics to my phone.!! The K-70 will come tomorrow, so I downloaded this app from Google, and noticed the reviews.. I should have stuck with the K-50. My point and shoot Sony has a few issues in their app, but always works. I'll check with Amazon returns on the K-70, and try something different then the only DSLR's I've ever used (and my 2 K-1000's) Canon here I come??
2022-12-31 | A K | If only I could give zero stars, this app is absolute garbage. Very difficult to connect, navigate, use. Bluetooth is useless, wifi is a complicated process. Does not transfer files easily or reliably. Does not preview files at all. I love Ricoh hardware, I own Pentax aps-c and ff bodies and lenses that I love, I always enjoy shooting my GR cameras, but I can't use this app with my brand new gr3 at all, everything is up to date, and my phone is top of the line android with latest version.
2022-10-16 | Jon Wallace | Works to transfer images, but it's very slow to connect. Overall a very poor user experience, camera control button covers the last image in the gallery and you can't access it for example. Remaking This app would be such an easy way for Ricoh to add value and such an embarrassment as is
2022-06-16 | dl hawes | V.2.1.11 doesn't work on Android 11 - after installation, it gives an explanation of location information requirements and describes optional setting on the "next page" - but there's no way to get there - hangs up in perpetual wait mode with no button to poke to make progress. Problem appears to be a change to Android 11, location information has to be requested by the app in a new way, and Ricoh hasn't caught up with it, despite saying it's updated to support Android 12.
2021-01-29 | Timur | Unable to connect at all any more. What the hell? How is this even possible. I used to be able to copy images from the camera via Bluetooth (wifi never worked), but I can't even do that anymore. Do you not have budget to fix the bugs? Why release the app at all? If you can't support the application, do not advertise the connectivity, and do not release the app at all. Just have people copy images the old way. Very disappointing. $900 is not cheap for GRIII, you should do better by People Ricoh..
2020-11-29 | MR G | I thought this app was broken because I couldn't get camera thumbnails to load and couldn't select photos to transfer to the phone. Then I realized photos were automatically transferring. The interface needs work, but the bones are there. Transfer is not fast (5MB/s at peaks), but I can forget OTG nonsense with the SD card. Three stars plus one more star for also transferring RAW images but minutes one star for constant connection issues.
2020-11-28 | T.C. Gregory | Basically only use this app as a remote to autofocus and take photos with my Pentax K-1. Version 2.1.2 constantly crashes on my Samsung Galaxy S10 and it was extremely frustrating and tedious to deal with. Today I finally uninstalled 2.1.2 and installed an earlier version (2.0.5) that I downloaded from a website called Apkpure, and now Image Sync works great again - no more random crashes!! |
