The Harmony app is pretty great. It's been a while now since I configured my Elite and Hub, so I can't speak to the setup process at the moment. Using the phone as a remote control works pretty well though. I don't do it often, but it's nice to have the option for times when I don't want to get up and get the real remote, or I'm busy in the kitchen but want to turn on the news without going to the living room. The app's remote control UI mirrors that of the actual Elite remote.

Issues with adding new devices that aren't in the database. No way to modify buttons that aren't there. Inputs that you add are unavailable when setting up an activity. App loses connection to hub constantly when learning IR commands. When you have to restart the learning, it wipes out the previously learned IR. Also, shame on Logitech for buying out Harmony and then abandoning it

A life saver since they killed off their hardware business. I had the elite set up for years until the touch screen stopped responding to touches. Now it's a paper weight and I ended up using an older, spare phone loaded with the software to keep functionality. It's terrible that Logitech absolutely ruled this market then decided they're done with it. I wish I had some advanced notice before they quit selling the good remotes. Now they're crazy expensive if you can find them.
