2024-12-09 | Chloe Smith | The game is fun, but holy moly is it IN YOUR FACE with the ads. Win a level? Ad. Restart a level? Ad. Wanna go back here? Ad. It's the wrong way to be doing it! I don't get anything out of those ads, they're just there and you're saying "give me money or suffer through ads". Go sell this game on Steam without any ads for $3. You'll do way better.
2024-10-17 | John McKinney | Love the game. I don't like how card mode was implemented at all. It's an interesting idea & I'd probably actually like it if you could get more than 1 card per round. Or if the AI could only draw 1 card like you. But the AI clearly doesn't have limits cause they play as many as they like. This makes some of the levels infuriating and feels like you're just trying different combinations til one works. The dev is dropping it from the maps which is probably a good idea, but it had promise.
2024-08-18 | David Brouillette | As someone who had made the rounds playing turn based strategy games on Android (such as Polytopia), this is one of the best I've played. Definitely worth the price of the full game. re: cards mode: It seems like I'm one of the few who enjoyed the card mode on Map X. Card mode does turn the level into more of a puzzle rather than strategy game since there's usually only one or two ways to beat a level with the order of cards you receive.
2024-07-12 | Daniel Blumentritt | Has a straightforward interface, a good rules reference, and a reasonable tutorial. So rare! The levels don't just get harder, they vary a lot, so it kept things interesting. Takes careful planning and good tactics. Higher level Knights always beat lower lvls, but the upkeep is way more, so you need to use them to capture more land, or take a short term hit to build farms. If you can't outfight an enemy, maybe you can split the territory to cut them off from the funds. Worth paying for even!
2024-06-04 | Scott Deville | Fun game. .... we'll, it used to be. You Island X update turned a strategy game into a luck of the card draw with nearly zero strategy. It also heavily favors the AI opponents that appear to get multiple cards as they can buy 3-4-5 new units per turn to my one - and it's impossible to defend when my card is a single a regular soldier while the AI buys new multiple knights.
2024-03-30 | Richard Crawford | Update: Still a top tier game. Absolutely love the new Battle Mode with the cycle of community maps to play to keep it fresh. But, Island X is an absolute nightmare with the new card system. I appreciate trying something new, just not for me. The new mines system is a great addition to the game though. Still a 10/10 for me, even with my dislike of cards and I still play a couple games almost every day.
2023-04-30 | Z Flocco | This game is fine for what it is, it's another game in the same vein as 'slay' or 'antiyoy'. Ads aren't that bad (which is rare for mobile games) . You get the first chapter (40 levels) for free, the 2nd and 3rd chapters are 5.49 ea, but the "full pack" including the two chapters as well as the map editor and ad removal is 9.49. The first chapter only has 4 colors (so you vs 3 ai) whereas chapter 2 & 3 have up to 8. I'd recommend this if you're looking for a decent mobile game.
2022-12-25 | Child of YaHoWaH | Wonderful game, beat island 1 with medium and almost all hard difficulty. Very fun and requires a good bit of strategy. Would like to be able to have ranged characters/ towers and to move the main island screen. Other than that, it is very well made. Bought the full game, beat every level on hard. Great job on this game, well done! I I hope more is added soon, very enjoyable.
2022-12-09 | Hunter Asiala | It's a fun game you can pick up very quickly. Sometimes the easy ai is a bit more difficult than "easy", but usually if you restart the match the ai seems to be easier. But making an easy ai that isn't super easy to beat, but not super difficult is a tough task. The normal and hard difficultly are perfect imo. It's a good game :)
2022-11-18 | Gaia Reborn | One of the very rare diamonds in the rough when it comes to mobile games, Island Empire is a genuinely enjoyable experience that avoids all of the worst tropes in mobile gaming. There is no gacha system, no energy system limiting how much you can play, the game is a whole experience, and despite later chapters costing money to unlock, the free chapter will easily last you more than enough to leave you satisfied. For only $9.99, the full game is an absolute steal, and totally worth every penny. |
