Needed for Google Maps Go, if you want navigation. Without this, Maps go is just an somewhat interactive digital paper map, making it fairly useless given it is for a mobile device. A recent update to... something, not sure if Google, Google maps, navigation for maps, Android or one of the dozens of other updates has broken this. Maps Go no longer sees this and seemingly now needs full fat Google Maps. So this is now useless...
This is already installed on my pixel 6 pro when I Google a business and click the address to link it to Google maps like it usually does it takes me to the play store to install on other devices as it shows it's already installed on my phone but doesn't open. So the app "knows" it's installed it just doesn't want to open the app. How efficient.
App just crashes the first time I just used it. I've already had a problem with offline maps in the original Google maps not showing the blue direction marker even after downloading the directions. I don't understand how something that's been around for the longest time smartphones have been out can't just work properly and smoothly. It's like the biggest companies make the worst stuff.
