App summary
In Gaia Project, each player controls one of 14 factions striving to peacefully colonize the Terra Mystica galaxy. Each faction has different environmental needs to survive on a planet. User reviews
I initially disliked and 1 starred this game but my friends convinced me to give it another chance and on the second pass I found I enjoyed it much more. It's not as lavish and pretty as Terra Mystica but it is in depth and intriguing. If you have played Terra Mystica I recommend just playing the game and reading the opening tips vs. playing the tutorial as that does actually complicate it. Make sure you understand it before buying and play Terra Mystica first if you can.
While the board game is indeed excellent, and this app does an acceptable job doing a lot of the busywork and rule interpretation right, it sure misses a lot of opportunities: the tutorial is horrid, the UI clunky, many pieces of information are missing (need to consult the rules book elsewhere), and the screen is sadly NOT optimized for mobile devices (on a tablet this may be easier to use, but on a phone most text is illegible and buttons too small).
Bought the app having never played the board game. After doing all the tutorials and several play throughs I still don't understand vast chunks of it. As a seasoned gamer , I think the app lacks sufficient detail for new players to competently learn the game.
