App summary

The official app for Citi Bike, NYC’s bike share system.

Citi Bike consists of a fleet of specially designed, sturdy and durable bikes that are locked into a network of docking stations throughout the city. Our bikes can be unlocked from one station and returned to any other station in the system, making them ideal for one-way trips. Bike share is a greener, healthier way to get around — whether you’re commuting, running errands, meeting friends, or exploring in a new city.
The Citi Bike app gives you access to thousands of bikes in your area — unlock and pay directly from the app and get going.

The Citi Bike app also shows upcoming public transit departures, including MTA subway trains, shuttles, local, limited, & express buses, LIRR commuter rail trains, Metro-North commuter rail trains, PATH rapid transit trains, Bee-Line local & express buses, NYC Ferries, the Staten Island Ferry, the AirTrain JFK, the AirTrain Newark, the Roosevelt Island Tramway, and NJT commuter rail trains, light rail trains, & buses.

Within the app, you can purchase the following Citi Bike passes:

If you're visiting New York City, want this app for the bikes and want to ride an ebike, don't pay for the "Day Pass". It's not what it sounds like and it's purposefully vague at first blush to get you to spend more money than you need to. You'll be charged for the day pass, 19 dollars, but it will only cover the unlock fee, which is 5 dollars. Then you'll be charged for the ride entirely. I spent 40 dollars for a 25 dollar ride and they don't offer refunds once you use the day pass free unlock.

I appreciate the interface and customer support, my main issue is that I am unable to report specifics about bike issues when I press the "repair" button on the dock. The in-app experience provides a window to write about it briefly before glitching, leaving me with generic feedback responses like customer satisfaction, bike availability, etc. I used to be able to do this and it doesn't work anymore.

CANNOT ROTATE THE MAP. Most of docking stations in east Harlem are broken for last 2 years and Citi bike does not fix them at all. Whereas very high importance is given to mid town where there are so many subway trains already. Also ... The app is pretty annoying when you dock the bike. You have to dismiss the feedback screen etc everytime you dock. Also you Cannot rotate the map.
