App summary

Orbot is a free VPN and proxy app that empowers other apps to use the internet more securely. Orbot uses Tor to encrypt your Internet traffic and then hides it by bouncing through a series of computers around the world. Tor is free software and an open network that helps you defend against a form of network surveillance that threatens personal freedom and privacy, confidential business activities and relationships, and state security known as traffic analysis.

★ Traffic Privacy
Encrypted traffic from any app, through the Tor network, gives you the highest standard of security and privacy.

★ Stop Snooping
No extra eyes know what apps you are using, and when, or can stop you from using them.

★ No History
No central logging of your traffic history or IP address by your network operator and app servers.

Orbot is the only app that creates a truly private internet connection. As the New York Times writes, “when a communication arrives from Tor, you can never know where or whom it’s from.”

Tor won the 2012 Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) Pioneer Award.

★ ACCEPT NO SUBSTITUTES: Orbot is the official Tor VPN for Android. Orbot bounces your encrypted traffic several times through computers around the world, instead of connecting you directly like traditional VPNs and proxies. This process takes a little longer, but the strongest privacy and identity protection available is worth the wait.
★ PRIVACY FOR APPS: Any installed app can use Tor via the Orbot VPN feature, or if it has a proxy feature, using the settings found here: https://goo.gl/2OA1y Use Orbot with Twitter, or try private web searching with DuckDuckGo: https://goo.gl/lgh1p
★ PRIVACY FOR EVERYONE: Orbot prevents someone watching your connection from knowing what apps you are using or websites you visit. All anyone monitoring your network traffic can see is that you're using Tor.

Won't even start! I've tried clicking the "Start VPN" button how many times over, and got nothing. Then the screen flashed and CLOSED THE APP!!! I reopened it, it gave me a screen showing it was TRYING to connect. But then it cancelled the connection attempt and closed the app again. Dealt with that same scenario 7 different times in a timespan of 10 minutes or less. Even the regular ToR browser is better than this junk.

This new UI doesn't give me an option to select which country I want to use tor (VPN) with. For instance if I'm live outside the UK and I want to access a website in the UK that only gives access to a UK internet connection then I must be able to select UK as the country Im wanting to access. Bring back the old UI so I can select the country again! Also, Nothing works when it says connected, can't pull up a website and Google search doesn't even work! This use to be my go to app!

This is a great alternative to the Tor app!!! The Tor app didn't work on my phone for some reason after installing it and deleting and reinstalling it etc. This worked easily and a huge perk is that it works on any browser! I used it on any browser after making one or two minor changes. I think that perk makes it so much better. Didn't crash or cause me any problems. Thank you!
