2024-07-31 | David LeCount | This app has always worked great for me. I have an OpenVPN service running on my router and I can connect to my home network from anywhere with an internet connection, usually to get files from my computer or encrypt my connection when on public wifi. With GrapheneOS, I can prevent my phone from accessing the internet unless it's through the VPN. It's just so simple and works so well for me.
2024-05-06 | Leigh McGill | This app works well, but there is one pain point. My router has a VPN service that I can connect to with this, and it gives me an ovpn file for this. Unfortunately, my router isn't aware that I'm running ddclient on a raspberry pi, so the file specifies the host via IP address. When imported, the host cannot be changed in this app, so I have to manually edit the ovpn file to fix it. It'd be nice to be able to change the host in the app, and change it to a DNS lookup. Other than that, great app!
2024-02-19 | K | There is one major problem... And it just keeps getting worse with every release... the "seamless tunnel" option does not work as advertised. It will "leak" under certain circumstances. The connection will get dropped when the phone or device goes to sleep and it will continue to allow communications outside the secure tunnel. Sometimes it will even randomly drop the VPN connection while you are actually using the device. Not trustworthy at all.
2024-01-09 | DR TERRY | I was very optimistic that this app would serve my purpose well. However, unlike my prior VPN app that was Mozilla Firefox developed, I was able to allow some apps to bypass the VPN such as my ring cameras and other apps by listing them. With this app I could not I had to turn off allow them to be bypassed So had to keep the open VPN turned off. No solutions were forthcoming from the tech support so, I will need to be finding out how to asking for a refund. I would not recommend this VPN.
2023-08-06 | infinitytec | Used to work great, but I keep getting an error (often when switching from cellular to WiFi or vice-versa) that the app can't get permissions for a VPN, but launching it from a shortcut works fine despite the error still showing. I have to reset the app to get it to hide the message, which means I then have to set up my VPN connection again.
2023-05-04 | Dave Furey | Update: This app hasn't worked properly for the last few weeks. It simply gives an error message and quits when first started. Totally useless now. ‐------ Works great for creating a VPN tunnel connection to my home router. Fortunately my WiFi router is setup to use OpenVPN. After making a connection, it's like my phone is locally connected to my home WiFi network even though I'm not home. Great for security or running apps that require a local connection.
2023-05-02 | Larry Crouch | When I first started using openvpn it would frequently disconnect and not reconnect. I figured it was the nature of the beast and stopped using it. Within the last month I tried it again & was pleasantly surprised. Its rock steady and reconnects as needed. I notice a preference for fav wifi. My use case is to connect with the untangle VPN at work and at home to hide my traffic. I don't use it for this nonsense of hiding my ip from various services.
2022-06-24 | Kelly Drake | I loved this app but once the new Android OS came out and locked up the permissions to media only you can't load the 4 needed files to make it work. Tried changing the 4 file suffixes to .mp3 and that got me through a quarter but could not get the 3 other needed files. Contacted Verizon, they tried, then they referred me to Samsung who tried but said it may be fixed in the next version of software. Developers of OpenVPN please change input routine to allow the 4 files to be .mp3!!!!!!
2022-02-19 | Isaac Lee | v3.2.6 broke ability to import profile. Changed OVPN port; went to update device configs. No issues on my devices. But wasted over an hour trying to find why wife's phone wouldn't work (all Android 11). Importing/parsing error every time, whether uninstall / wipe app data / etc. Finally noticed it wasn't requesting permission to files. Only could manually allow media only - but my other devices have all files permission. Oddly, her play store shows 3.2.6, mine show 3.2.5 (which works) as latest
2021-08-03 | Paul Beeler | This works perfectly if you want to use a lean simple app, and stay connected to the same server no matter if on wifi or mobile connection. Also note, this app should be for advanced users only. You will need to disable battery optimizations to avoid disconnects/crashes (this will cause more battery drain). And also select auto start/launch in the app settings, if you want it to connect after a reboot. |
