All news services slant left or right depending on the agenda of those managing and funding the service. This has been the case since Colonial time, pre-Revolution. The AP, most of the time, reports news with the LEAST amount of bias. Most of its readers and viewers continue reading and viewing AP content. Simple. Not as left as CNN, yet not as to the right as Fox. .... Thank you. Thank you. The widget is back! Nice, great, in fact, to get a preview of current news before you enter the app.

The app seems well built. However, it consistently crashes when I am in the middle of reading an article. Reopening the app reloads the article from the top, meaning that you have to scroll back to your place. Additionally, there seems to be no way to control the amount of notifications the app sends.

Oh wow, it's even worse than my previous review! (7/25/22)I've used this app for about 2 years? The most recent update is the worst. Can't save a story cuz the app will quit, the suggested stories that used to be at the bottom of every article are now gross ads and there's still no way to manage the notifications on topics! And still no easy way to even access saved stories! I've tried to email AP support and haven't heard anything back from them. So disappointed

I've been using the AP app on my Galaxy S23 Plus for over a year and a half. I originally rated it 5 stars due to it's unbiased, In-depth reporting on national news, entertainment and sports. I've changed my rating to 3 stars because over the last 3 or 4 months the app has been crashing while I'm reading an article and not even touching the screen. I've tried updating it to the latest version, uninstalling and reinstalling it, etc. and it keeps crashing. Please fix this bug.

Latest Update: *Can no longer zoom in on pictures. (This was fixed earlier, but broken again.) *Font size is massively large on the text of stories. The byline is a normal size, the stories are unreadable. * Sound no longer works on videos. Impossible for anyone in a disaster area to use this app. It requires too much power and bandwidth to get any actual news from it. Please consider releasing a lite version. This version just keeps getting worse.

Edit: They keep changing this back and forth, and I'm done. Allow us to turn this feature off and I might start using the app again. For now, I'm uninstalling. Seriously considering uninstalling this since the recent update made ads and videos play, with sound, every time I open the app. I can't find any way to turn this feature off, and you can't mute the videos - you have to turn off the sound on your phone altogether if you want to use the app without intrusive noise. Unusable this way.

Excellent source for objective, professional journalism and neutral coverage of world news. However, I've had continuing issues with the video player- it's tiny and doesn't have useful features like fullscreen mode, it will often keep playing audio after I close the app, and the video editing is often pretty bad, too.

Had to knock a star off after the latest update. The user interface is inferior to the previous version. It's like an amalgamation of mobile app and desktop web-based versions, but doesn't rise to the ability of either. Worse, the app is prone to crashing, and I'm considering removing another star if that issue isn't resolved soon. 8/24/24: The issues haven't gotten any better, so I'm knocking this down to three stars.

At startup, the app doesn't always remember it is set for dark mode and the bright white screen is annoying af. Headlines feel more spread out, requiring more scrolling. Worse, there's no times or dates on the headlines. I'll see the same headline for a couple of days and I have no idea if it's new or old. It feels like it's going the way of BBC. Trying to be slick, presentation of content suffers, and then I just don't use it as much.

Good start. Rarely find articles attached to pushed updates. Edited 8/04/24: After multiple updates. It's barely functional. Click on a notification link and it no longer takes you to the article. What's the point? Previously, you were able to go to different categories. Now between the ads and photos, it's a lot more challenging. I seriously struggle to understand how a news org the caliber of AP has such a horrendous app. Absolutely mind boggling.
