2024-07-02 | Dana Demsky | Sensitivity is much better than other apps I've tried. Has a much more usable range ability.
2023-12-02 | Skip Irwin | I purchased this app many years ago and was displeased when it would not launch recently in an area of no cell coverage.
2023-06-23 | Lee | A good app for many phones but for the Samsung GALAXY A54 5G it will not register sound beyond 80dB. I refuse to believe the mics are unable to record beyond that.
2023-05-16 | Phil Allison | Tried to get a refund within 15 minutes per google play but couldn't get any contact info to show up. Basics of an spl meter should allow weighting and time integration selections. This is a toy.
2023-03-16 | Stab Rabbit (Thermonuclear Man) | Does not pick up low frequencies like the sound of a loud subwoofer through a wall. Yes it's the lack of range from the microphone on the phone which means this app is only as good as the device it is installed on. Waste of money and time.
2022-10-16 | Rodney Gooding | I like it -functional and minimal fluff, good to use just to measure sounds in your environment but be aware your phone isn't an accurate mic but a good starting point for casual observation.
2022-08-24 | D.R. Lowe | Idk how accurate it is but gives u a general idea of how loud of a noise you're around. Could be better if there was a guided tutorial on operation/calibration of either/both meters....
2022-05-25 | Axel F | If you read the developer's own description, then their thirteen measured intervals should be switched in the next version to 3dB spacing from 44-80dB. Three decibels is a doubling of sound -- perceptible to many people -- and the app's documentation says you can't really trust the last three readings even *if* they switched to the above improvement over the current version.. But it would be an good change, given the limitations above eighty decibels of many phones (and the limited accuracy of Sound Meter Pro)
2022-05-17 | Darryl Estes | Vastly limited by the microphone of your phone. They tell you this in their blog...after you've bought it. Phone are designed to pick up voice frequencies. Being a musician who needs to know how loud music is on stage and in my practice situation, this app is worthless to me. They should take the "Pro" out of the name. It's a toy.
2022-02-16 | Jim Knapp | I taught theatrical sounds design at a major university for years. I had my students install this app on their phone to help analyze the acoustics of the theatre. It worked well. I later discovered they started using it to analyze classrooms around campus. It is easy to understand and use. While not as precise as dedicated sound meters it works well for a strong general understanding of the space. |
