App summary

The Catalog Pocket app allows you to look up and browse information on tourism in Japan, as well as discount coupons, free newspapers and more, using your native language (Japanese, English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Korean).
Use not only when you travel in Japan but much prior to your visit in order to learn more about the country.

[Perfect for those who...]
 - Don’t read Japanese
 - Want to research tourism information using their native language prior to traveling in Japan
 - Want to learn more about Japan before traveling there
 - Want to recommend tourist spots in Japan to friends

[Multilingual browsing function]
Automatically sets the interface language to Japanese, English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese or Korean according to the language setting of your OS. Set the priority display language of the text within the text window to browse the contents in your native language. (The contents containing the set language are required.)

[Suggests catalogs for you!]
By browsing various catalogs, a built-in function can preferentially list catalogs that are selected depending on your preferences and current region. The more contents you view, the more appropriate catalogs this function will recommend for you.
(To use the region-related priority display or the search function, either the location information setting of your device or the area designation of two locations in the app settings are required.)

[Features abundant categories!]
Due to the abundance of categories (genres) in Catalog Pocket, there is no need to use multiple catalog apps suited for different distribution contents. Includes not only lifestyle-related categories but also those related to business.

[Share with friends on SNS sites!]
The Catalog Pocket app comes equipped with an SNS posting capability that allows you to share reading contents with your friends!
Share on Facebook, Twitter and LINE.

[Other features]
 - A search function with 6 types of settings (category, keyword, company name, region, coupon/discount and travel related)
 - A My Search function that saves your searches
 - A My Catalog setting (Marks downloaded contents as favorites.)
 - Bookmark setting (Adds a bookmark to specific catalog pages to manage your contents.)
 - Catalog browsing with a password function (Some coupons can be browsed by entering a password distributed on another catalog or at stores.)

*An Internet connection is needed to browse the catalog. However, contents that are already downloaded can be viewed without Internet connectivity.
*This app may contain contents related to finance, politics and political party, pachinko and pornography that are for use by those over a certain age..
*Along with updates, functions may change without prior notice.

User reviews

Like many Japanese producers of tourism or living information content, the app maker is clueless as to the utter unreadability of machine translation. They do not understand that trying to read auto-translated spew is an unpleasant and, more importantly, un-informative experience. Though this app may work decently for Japanese to Chinese (?) translation, it is all but worthless for English readers.

Wasn't able to get audio playing in any language. You can read a paragraph of information for about ten of the artworks in the Kyoto museum of modern art, but that amount of information could be displayed much more easily with a simple placard.
