2024-09-11 | War Cat | Great app! Walking through public land and it scans bats as they pass. Working well for my college practicum project!
2024-07-25 | Chris Pague | Simple to use and provides great info and enjoyment. Whether I am sharing information on our amazing diversity of life or conducting inventory or research, the app is there to help. The algorithms will only improve, making the findings ever more reliable.
2024-04-09 | James Robinson | Appear Incompatible with Samsung S24 Ultra. Worked great with S22 Ultra, but S24 Ultra does not recognize the module. I have tried all the suggestions on the site without success. The list of compatible devices, while referenced a number of times on the site, appears to have been removed. Any suggestions as to how to get the S24 to recognize the module would be greatly appreciated.
2023-11-18 | olav Santiago | I have a Nokia XR20, for the echo meter to work you have to do the following: Got to SETTINGS, Then CONNECTED DEVICES down to OTG CONNECTION swipe RIGHT Then plug in the device, wait a few seconds then it will work. Used it a few times before winter arrived, in windy conditions, did get some bat readings. There can be some lagging but I've experienced that with other more expensive devices.
2023-10-22 | Terry Morse | Does a really good job detecting and visualizing bats' ultrasonic calls when used in combination with the Pro detector. The within-app species ID is rapid, if tentative. At $400/yr, the desktop analysis software is spendy if you aren't wealthy or on a research grant. The free version is good for basic bookkeeping and visualization, but has no species ID capability. There is a slight incompatibility with my cellphone: no metadata is saved if I record to an SD card rather than internal storage.
2023-09-04 | David G | Useful device but app presentation needs improving. For example, the Live mode controls are confusing. Auto ID only reports just one species when there are more than one in the sonogram. Only possible to manually tag one species in a recording even though there is more than one. Manual scrolling in playback has no indication of time position within the recording. Management of recordings is basic and time consuming. Overall it feels like a clutzy beta development version of software.
2023-08-16 | Jason Short | I'm only giving 1 star as I can't give 0 stars. The latest version of software now uploads your files to Google Drive as a single ZIP file, whereas before it uploaded each file individually. Once I had uploaded files from 4 Bat Surveys that I had completed I then had to download the ZIP files to ensure that the individual recordings had been safely stored in the cloud. Every single ZIP file was unable to be accessed after being downloaded. This is an awful update and needs fixing.
2023-07-20 | Piotr Naskrecki | Great app that I use routinely in my bat work, but it has one major flaw. When Wildlife Acoustics decided to stop making the iOS-compatible version of the microphone, they very unfortunately also decided to remove the ability to send files to a computer via Bluetooth. If you have a MacOS computer, it is very difficult to send files to it.
2023-06-30 | Peter | I love this app but you must have the accompanying hardware and compatible device to make use of it. It records bat noise (well most ultrasonic "noise") and converts it into human audible sounds. It also does lookups of these sound and tries to make an accurate ID of the bat that made them. Loads of features packed into one app. Before buying the hardware, download the app, make sure you understand it and can work with it before shelling it on the expensive hardware, if you enjoy bat detecting!
2023-05-31 | Crispin Sampson | Great app, and great bat detector. The app is very glitchy with my phone which is a new Nokia and not on the recommended list for compatability but it still makes learning different bat calls very simple. I think even if you buy a phone/tablet specially for this it would still work out better value than other detectors. |
