2024-10-20 | Ken Johanson | I always considered Localcast the most polished app for casting, especially if you have a home DLNA server and want to play and control it's media on your smart TVs.. and also since it supports rotating images. But what undermines it... is HUGE battery drain. I have to force stop the app after I use it. And then also enable background usage, otherwise it loses the current play time. Those two things though are at odds... I can't be the only one reporting this, yet it's years old..
2022-09-30 | R J | This used to be a top app in the casting space with a focused developer, but in the last year it's gone downhill. The developer stopped supporting the app and seems more concerned about ads/revenue than features/bug fixes (and bugs have stacked up). Why not open-source it if you don't have time to support it? I've switched over to "Web Video Caster" which is much more feature rich and better supported at present.
2021-09-13 | demens f | ok. I know you want people to purchase your application, but 45+ second long ads that cannot be interrupted is not the way to do it. After the app randomly played through multiple videos off my phone for my family to watch that I could not stop due to the ad, I began to look for an alternate solution. Also, constructive criticism, do not make showing photos like movies with a 10 second display... that then only loads your photos half the time. If the pro version performs the same, not worth it
2021-03-25 | Grace Juracka | Very close to being exactly what I want... This plays videos from my phone, which is what I was looking for 🙌 but it only plays one video in the queue and then stops. I also tried to get it to loop, but instead it just plays the video once and then stops. And the link to the FAQ page leads you to a casino website? Definitely needs some work but I'm glad I found it 👍
2021-01-31 | Peter Somma | I am one of little patience. I have no idea if this app works or not, got hit with 4 advertisements just trying to look at the settings in the app. I did get One video to play, then got a pop up about audio not syncing because (my gigab it ethernet) was lagging, and then another ad. So I have no clue if this is a good app or not, because of all the interrupting ads in the first 5 minutes of use - not wasting any more time.
2020-11-20 | Hemude Sartawi | A frustrating app. Half the time the audio is missing. Other apps I've tried perform much better in this regard (with the same files). Often a local video file will start playing perfectly, then halfway into it, it'll crash and the "maybe it's unsupported" message will appear. It's a buggy, useless app. I'm getting rid of it.
2020-06-30 | John M | I'm sorry, but there's something wrong with this app. It keeps CLAIMING that a video isn't supported and that is the Chromecasts fault. But that's BS. It will play one video but not another and BOTH of these videos have the EXACT same specs. Same codec, same bit rate, same resolution, same frame rate, and shot with the same phone and the same settings. Yeah sorry, but the app is the problem.
2020-06-14 | David Horwitz | It was a great App for over 3 years. It stopped working May 2020 with my LG TV. My phone is a Pixel 4 XL 128gb. I am a Ham radio operator with an MS in EE. I am 90 % sure is a changed when you started recommended I purchase an ~$1.40 per month upgrade to the Pro version. I uninstalled & it worked for 45 minutes then it updated & stopped finding video in my internal. I sent them email & they did not respond. No real support.
2020-04-05 | A Google user | Nice app, good interface. Works well from the device storage or installed SD card... But... app won't read from my USB SSD T5 device. Error: "Something went wrong, try again later". This happens on all three of my Android devices. All videos can be seen and played locally but not cast. It does recognise the SSD Drive, but does not read.
2020-04-03 | A Google user | Update now requires an app in to be downloaded onto streaming device (roku) and picutres are not supported. So image presentations are out. For the time anyway. . .revisted this app. 1 month later Was loyal to it. Presentations 9/10 times worked great. Best casting presentation I have found. New update still didn't allow pictures. Welp localcast you get 2 more tries then I'm done. What a waste of what was a great app. |
