More accurate than street addresses, simpler than GPS coordinates
Street addresses and postcodes aren’t accurate enough to specify exact locations - for navigation, deliveries and more. what3words is a more precise way to do so - and it’s also a more accessible way to communicate location information than latitude/longitude coordinates or GPS - in short, it’s a simple ‘geocode’.

Navigate adventures, big and small
Offline navigation and compatibility with your favorite map apps - like Google Maps, Apple Maps and more - make what3words the perfect tool for daily trips and bigger adventures.
- Walking somewhere unfamiliar? Use what3words to navigate to your precise destination stress-free
- Find the perfect camping spot - and remember how to find it later - by saving the what3words location

Interface is clunky, dark mode hides all the buildings which is...pointless. I run Google Maps in dark mode all the time, the buildings are visible so it's not that causing the problem. But it's definitely useful if you find yourself somewhere obscure and you need to tell someone about it.

Here's a suggestion for the Tesla drivers in the W3W community. Whenever you're at a Supercharger, press the little target button in the lower right corner of your current position screen to find the w3w address of the supercharger. Then write a Google Maps review of the supercharger, and put in the W3W location. Sometimes the location of the supercharger is not exactly the location shown on your car's navigation app. Your W3W app will lead you right to the supercharger.

This is an almost perfect location app. The only problem, and it's critical, it's really easy to find the w3w address on the app, but Gmaps doesn't recognise the w3w address, and it's so difficult to equate addresses between these apps. I will carry on using it in the hope they can crack this problem.
