2024-10-14 | Alison Lowery | I hate taking away stars from what has probably my favorite app of all time. I'm not having a lot of the issues people were mentioning; however, after search the page loads, everything will shift position and size and I hit links I don't want and have to sit through exorbitantly long, loud, obnoxious ads with multistaged exiting protocols that involve more unintentional links and more ads. I can't let my curiosity wander and link hop to find the link between words. That was the magic of this!!!
2024-10-04 | chris jackson | I have dyslexia, so I've always had to work a little harder with vocabulary etc. So it's always nice to find a dictionary app that works well for me. I've been using this for a few years now and I believe it's actually improving my vocab/spelling. The best part is that it's fun and it pushes me past what I was looking for. It encourages me to learn more about the words, pronunciation, root and the history(crazy right?).
2024-08-18 | Sammy Swanksmith | Possibly the most obtrusive, obnoxious ads I've seen in any app in my life. They interrupt you and take the entire screen, force you to watch a video. The only way to dismiss is to click skip, then a microscopic X which is deliberately hard to tap, so when you miss it launches a website for the product to harvest more data. That happened to me 3 times. The most anti consumer experience I've ever had. No dictionary is worth this waterboarding. Besides that, terrible UI. UNINSTALLED.
2023-10-29 | Angela Parrish | Perfect tool for exploring my innate passion for language. The customizable bookmarking feature is **fabulous**. I also find the audio pronunciation feature invaluable! I'm an avid reader, but there's few things more embarrassing than knowing how to *use* a word in conversation yet pronouncing it incorrectly! I love this app. I can't do without it and cannot even offer any suggestions on how to improve it. If you love language, or simply need a hand on spelling, grammar, pronunciation, or syn
2023-09-07 | Maureen Rogers | I've had this app for nearly 10 yrs. I've loved it because it gives not only definition, but it also the etymology and history of the word when available. In just the last week or so, since the last update, the app has stopped working properly. I can type in the word, but when I click on the results, the screen either goes entirely blank, or only part of the next page opens. I'm so disappointed - I have used this app almost daily for years. Is there a way to fix this?
2023-08-10 | EddieRay VanLynch | This was a great app when I first downloaded it three phones ago. But these last two years, it will often fail to open, even when it's closed and reopened numerous times. Sometimes it just locks up when swiping back from an article. The content is great, so it's frustrating. I've never had such unpredictability with an app. It was five stars when I first got it. Please do some maintenance.
2022-11-06 | Corey Beth (Aquarius Dawn) | I used to love this app; it has both definitions & Wikipedia-like entries, & a homepage including word-related mini games, trivia, articles such as "person of the day," etc. I've used it for years. Recently, to my disappointment, it stopped working correctly. Regardless of my task- looking up words, trying to browse, etc- the app crashes after 30-60 seconds. Not enough time to do much at all. So I'm dropping my rating from 5 stars to 2. Please fix this bug & I'll be glad to go back to 5 stars!
2022-06-14 | Dana Huffman | Fine as a dictionary, but the website does that. Has a weird dashboardy thing at the bottom of the page that is kind of distracting; it appears to have a notification but no matter where you click on it you go to the "install" page for some weather app. Also, the daily gift seems to have disaopeared. Kind of disappointing in the end.
2021-09-29 | Robert Simmons | EDIT: The flashcards function needs to be revamped, in that you need to have the option to see more than just one definition on them. AND, if it's too long, the whole thing doesn't fit. "OMG, FLASHCARDS?! This is the greatest.... Uh, THING I've ever seen! (I'm going to start using them to increase my vocabulary immediately.) I actually have been using a physical dictionary, and writing down definitions on paper; but this is totally more convenient."
2021-05-11 | Horace Friend | Probably the best dictionary app. The ads are not that annoying. You need to be a registered user otherwise your bookmarks aren't saved. I only gave it 4 stars because it has a lot of other features that is useless to me and I am not sure if I can turn them off without crippling the app. There is an "Ugrade to Pro" link in the app but the Web link always returns an error. Update 05/11/21. I finally bought the app because it truly is the best. I'm giving it 5 stars for content. |
