2024-11-22 | Bill Lyb | Im giving SP 3.4 stars why?? I been waiting for SP to release a privacy browser for a while, & when they brought it, there was no ad block or dark mode, which is now pushing back to using Samsung internet with sp as my default. Its really feels like SP isn't interested in giving us darkmode with an adblocker according too the last couple of updates. The browser though is beautiful and I really appreciate the new Zap function, it works well. I hope 🤞 SP considers delivering sooner or later;
2024-11-22 | sankha babu | SP is great privacy friendly search engine no doubt. But only good search engine is not enough for privacy and security. SP browser is open to privacy and security vulnerabilities like Google chrome. No fingerprint resistance, no content blocker, only Zap feature. It is incomplete as a Browser. Better to use SP as default search engine with Browsers like Cromite, Brave, Mull, Fennec f-droid, Iceraven, Mulch, Firefox etc.
2024-11-16 | Rupam Saha | First of all, there is no option to select other search engines (eg Google, DuckDuckGo) within this browser. By default there is only Startpage search engine. Then any ads blocking and pop up redirect block feature is missing. Which seems a bit insecure. They offer privacy but do not have Privacy Basic tied into their browsers. Using Brave Browser will make you much more secure than this.
2024-10-25 | Jen Wilkinson | OK browser. Couldn't import bookmarks on the mobile Android version. Didn't ever seem to work with Onepass for form filling and seems to prevent copy and paste on a lot of sites so frustrating and I ended up swapping back to my old browser.
2024-10-20 | G W | Was asked to enable cookies when trying to access my yahoo mail account. They were allowed. Back to Firefox for me. Pity, but I'll continue to use startpage via Firefox (which i have been doing for years on PC, tablet and phone without needing an ap)- where logging on is easy and not so frustrating. I also don't like that it doesn't have a clear cookies, history etc on exit feature. Why not?
2024-10-15 | Mark Gottschalk | I've been a Startpage search page user for many years, so I tried out the browser. Nice, but the lack of ad blocking has turned out to be a deal breaker for me. I typically use Firefox (both mobile and PC) and have Startpage as my search page. I whitelist the Startpage webpage itself so it isn't adblocked, but I can't function without ad blocking most everywhere else. Attempting to use the Startpage app as my browser quickly reminded me of why ad blocking exists. YMMV.
2024-10-14 | Pierce Bishop, Esq, PhD | For 97% of my purposes, Startpage Browser is the very best. I became so used to Google browser, I still automatically go for it instead of using Startpage. Ironically, I see no why this should not be my default Browser. I have made it my default on a couple devices but as I remember I will change. Two things I like. There are no intrusive ads. I find on sites, prayer sites, others have ad on top of ad. I would gladly pay for this App.
2024-10-13 | The Creator | It's great to have my favourite and very private search engine as an Internet browser. I'd have it as my mobile phone default browser but it doesn't work with my password manager bitwarden so I only use it when I don't have to log in or create a login
2024-09-27 | Nobody | You have a nice concept and I like how fast it is, but you are missing a very important feature: if I set up the browser to delete everything, after closing the app it should do it, even close any left-opened tabs after I completely close the browser, but it doesn't do it because when I open the browser, all the websites where I was, are open again. I still using it and waiting for improvements. 1 star more for answering me.
2024-09-26 | Vik Wanderer | Hey StartPage team, I'm using your different services for many years and this browser is a mixed bag. Simply chromium browser but with StartPage. For example, if I wanted to take screenshot for a page in incognito mode, chrome blocked it but every other chromium browser has simply adopted everything of them. Very bad. See things thoroughly before calling it privacy focused. Plus searches shows blank. Haven't seen blank with other search engines. Improve. Not up to the mark. |
