The progression in this game is too slow and incremental compared to the first. You need to chip away at every upgrade, and it doesn't accelerate the rate that you earn quickly enough. There's no room to feel clever skipping an upgrade, or do a few extra runs to save up for the next vehicle, etc. It gives you barely enough for another upgrade, then you go 10 more feet every run. The first game had a lot more player freedom and was better. This game is less fun.

This sequel adds some fun new features like location-based damage. The general gameplay loop is similar (good for short sessions) but it also feels more linear and grindy (maybe because of the monetization type). You can't keep using your old car on new levels because you have to use the "improved" one- which is frequently worse than the old car until upgraded. You can't decide to try and use a lighter or heavier car. The upgrade path also feels like it's the same every time. Still fun.
