This app works great! I've had this app for about 4 years now and have never had even 1 problem. I gave this app 4 stars about 4 years ago, but now I have to cut it in half and drop it to a 2 star. What changed it is that I just saw a sexually explicit advertisement on here. If I see 👀 it one more time, I'll drop it to a 1 star and uninstall it.

Its useful a decent amount of the times. The ads are ever constant if you plan to look at more than just one word. The definitions are mostly terrible in describing the actual word and almost always force me to click on links to other words to truly understand the word. After clicking on those links I am forced to see more ads. Main complaint is the constant need to just refer back to Google rather than just get a good definiton for the word, and piece it together while being sent to more ads

Does what I want: provide definitions of words. Ads are banner style and relatively unobtrusive, and the subscription to get rid of them is dirt cheap at $3/year. Also has a thesaurus and some nice things like word games and a word of the day. Edit: there are some pretty annoying bugs. Sometimes the app will just freeze, sometimes it'll load indefinitely and I have to restart it.

I have long subscribed to this app as I think their $6 annual fee is reasonable. However the app appears to be getting worse in each update. Searches take longer and longer, and if you have a poor connection never return at all. If you are completely offline they usually come back faster. Please fix this or I will be back on the hunt for a better dictionary.

Great app for learning and defining words. It certainly helps broaden your vocabulary. My only complaint is that it has no way of learning these words. The vocabulary games are fun, but it would be immaculately more useful if we could do these games with our bookmarked words! This is so we can help polish our words and help us integrate them into our heads. It is overall a great app and easy to work with

It's actually impressive in a way that this company was able to take something so incredibly straightforward (a dictionary) and make it ridiculously annoying and difficult to use. The ads are intrusive and repetitive (and for some reason in spanish) and the fact that nearly every word on every page is hyperlinked with no return button makes reading entries feel like a minefield. Just finding a word and scrolling down through the definition is a struggle.

The UI is terrible and makes the app extremely frustrating to use. To scroll up/down on a page, you must very consciously only touch white space because there are so many hyperlinked words. If you accidentally touch a hyperlink it takes you to that word's page. Pressing the back button takes you to the home page, not back to the previous word, so now you have to search the word all over again. For words with long entries, this sequence can happen multiple times as you scroll the page.

I love how easy it is to navigate this app. You have the option of saving words you might want to revisit later. Also, it saves the history of recent words you looked up. There is the option of swiping left or right, and it will take you back to previous words you looked up. The game they have is a plus. It helps you learn new words and refresh your memory on some other ones. I super recommend it.

This used to be my favorite app on my phone for looking up quick definitions of words, especially during my morning Bible study. The most recent update, has made the app, almost unusable. It is now inundated with ads, and when you type in a word, the word comes up, but every time you go to slide up or down, a new word pops up in the search block, forcing you to starr over. Most of the words that pop up don't have anything to do with your original search. Very frustrating.

Handy dictionary except the hyperlinks on words in the descriptions get activated accidently when scrolling down. There is no going back to the word just looked at. One has to search for it all over again. This happens all the time. Touch the screen to scroll down to read more of the description and etymology, and suddenly your at the definition of a word used in the description. Annoying.
