2024-12-06 | Tom Hall | The only way to resolve issues with M1 is by filing complaints with FINRA. M1 refuses to close my account, even though I zeroed it out and requested closure 3 times. Their strategy is to keep charging me fees and then to turn over the account to collections. Either you pay the accrued bogus fees or they damage your credit standing. It is extortion.
2024-11-29 | Anthony Pereiro | I really enjoyed this app when I first started investing about 4 years ago. It was an easy way to diversify and passively invest, but recently the experience is very cumbersome. I'm becoming more active in managing my portfolio and M1's system makes it very difficult to sell individual securities. They are also pushing products like personal loans, which is fine, but I'm never going to get one yet I constantly open up the loan tab because of the UI.
2024-11-20 | Tech Shark | This is the best, set it and forget investment app for passive income investors, yet they built the UI in the most unnecessarily difficult way. Just do like Fidelity final did and just copy Robinhood but keep the pie. The hunting for the most basic things is NOT a good thing. Change it, since you're charging monthly fees now
2024-11-13 | J. Withrow | Excellent for automation and margin. Beautiful, smooth, & intuitive. In my experience of using it for 7 months, the only truly frustrating thing is the trading windows. I don't mind being limited to trading twice a day (as I am a long term investor), but the fact that you can't trade at the exact time you want keeps you from being able to properly buy on a dip or sell on a bump. You end up missing out on the biggest gains or discounts because you had to wait hours for the next window.
2024-08-29 | Kaveman killian | I would give it zero stars if I could. This app was great and allowed me to begin investing in large companies. I even started to see gains... after over a year of using the app, they started charging me 3 dollars/ month...I was unaware and they got me for 12$, nonrefundable. They said they sent me an email to inform me (I never got that email). The only way to not get charged the 3$/ month fee is by having 10,000$ invested with m1. I got this app to save money, not have it taken.
2024-08-08 | Michele Perni | Pros: Love the app concept. Pies are really great and saw lots of reviews online on different portfolios. Huge selection of vanguard pre defined portfolios. Good also for DCA. Cons: I really loved it at first but Customer service is really terrible. phone helpline is useless and messaging in app does not work. It takes days to process a bank transfer and it took more than a month to validate my identify. It feels like is understaffed and poorly automated. I am considering closing it up.
2024-07-30 | Greg Cotroneo | If you don't have 10k don't bother. I've had this app for years and it was great. I have an invest account and Roth IRA. I'm not super experienced so having presets to choose from was helpful. It made it easy to set a monthly deposit and leave it. Today (July) I found out they started charging a $3 monthly fee back in May and will start charging the same for the IRA in spetember? Absolutely not, I know I'm not a big fish, I just graduated college, but one day I will be, and it won't be with you
2024-07-20 | Jackson Westbrook | Seriously cool app. I love the level of customization you can get with your portfolio but utilizing different pies, slices, etc. So far I've really been loving it. You can put any stocks & ETFs you want in your portfolio, but you can even customize the weight that each security, or even group of securities, is assigned. Haven't really seen anything like it elsewhere.
2024-07-19 | Brigham Krebs | 7/18/24 edit - There's a $3 monthly fee and the app has become needlessly complicated. It's not a app to access and manage your accounts app anymore. It's a "banking" app. They've buried the features that made it an accessable investing app in junk menus with names that don't reflect what is contained in the menu. If I wasn't already using it I don't know that I would start a new account.
2024-07-16 | Chad Murphree | The M1 app is easy to use. Research and track potential stocks before you invest, also easy way to get started in investing. One time deposit or set up regular investing. The only "downfall" to be aware of is, you must maintain $10k or be charged a $3 monthly fee. It's unfortunate that those that are just starting their investment journey have to pay a penalty. Overall, still an easy app to build your portfolio in. |
