2024-02-07 | Thomas “T.J.” Fitzgerald | I used this app to backup my phone before flashing a new ROM. It seemed to backup the apps and their data, however when I restored them on the new system (same device), none of them would open. I tried clearing the storage for the apps to put them in "freshly installed" condition, and they still didn't work. Lastly, I uninstalled the apps, reinstalled them for the source and restored the backup app data, and they still didn't work. It failed to restore the apps or data.
2023-07-03 | Nazo San | Unfortunately the current top review is correct: Titanium Backup no longer can restore backups. I believe the issue is one of permissions (each app has its own writable path and a separate user/group generated "randomly." The backup restore process likely does not compensate for this.) On current Android versions, restoring a backup causes the app to crash continuously until you clear its data. Titanium Backup was one of my most important essentials, so this is a terrible loss.
2023-01-16 | Martin Pollard | (edited review) Sadly, no longer the best backup app for Android in this day and age. Setting aside the dated UI, the app is no longer reliable when it comes to actually restoring your backups (I've been told it's because it can't handle split APKs). That in and of itself makes the app nearly useless. Once a staple of the Android community, time has passed it by. I recommend other solutions, such as Swift Backup, which does most of what this app does but it actually *works*.
2023-01-15 | ꧁Gɾȝɠ GԾ꧂ | Once incredible, now incompatible.. I used this app for many years across many different versions of Android starting back around Android 3.0. it was the most helpful & useful app I owned until a few years ago when it slowly became less & less useful as newer versions of Android came out.. unlike the Android OS, titanium backup never seemed to be updated over the years.. so as time passed it became more & more outdated & more & more features became difficult or impossible to use.. sad nostalgia.
2023-01-07 | Mike M | SOMEONE PLEASE PICK UP DEVELOPMENT OF THIS ONCE GREAT APP! It's so broken now it's unreliable and useless. Last time I tried, after backing up an app+data before reflashing my phone, I couldn't even *select* the backup file when I chose the option to import a backup. All .TiBkp files were grayed out, whether they were in cloud storage, or on the sd card. I wish I could get a refund, but multiple attempts to contact the support team have been futile (I've only received autoresponses). So sad. 😭
2022-06-24 | Miles | Too many options that default to be not enabled that appear to be needed to work for many apps to successfully backup. Backing up all and restoring all of the apps external data should be default options for example. A couple important apps did not backup correctly recently for me recently because of this which will be a huge pain to reconnect.
2022-06-14 | Justin Maresh | If someone would revive and update this app, I'd give it 5 stars! It is a must if you are rooted and using Android 10 or under. If you are using Android 11 and up, restoring is likely to fail often. What good is a backup you cannot restore? I still use it and love it on my older device. But for my newest phone, Swift Backup has been much more reliable for actually restoring backups. I just uninstalled Titanium Backup on my new phone, and had to write this.
2022-05-03 | David C. | Titanium Backup has been a staple in the rooted community for years but it has started to show it's age not only with the interface but also with it's functionality leaving users to find workarounds to some of the problems that have been popping up as new Android versions are developed. Having said that, there are very few apps that can do what Titanium does but none that can completely replace it.
2022-02-01 | Ian J | Still can't backup to PC easily after all these years... Very very baffling to me, and the UI is still very dated. I think it needs to be added now more than ever since phones are mandatory encryption and a PC version the app would be very nice. Hasn't improved in any matter in the past few years. I had to back up my phone on very short notice and it didn't backup my texts. It had some crucial memories and stuff from when my grandmother passed, and the app restore process has been like pulling teeth. You're fired. There are much better solutions out there nowadays.
2022-01-03 | Melan Choly | I'm so CRUSHED. I had to abandon my phone (rooted Note 4) and I have so many backups through TiBu, had happily paid for it, kept the backups recent (on phone, to laptop, and Dropbox) — I'd uh, PAY someone to update this freakin app so I can get at least some DATA off my old phone files! What, am I supposed to turn on "OneDrive" and let M$take (MS) keep copies of my data now? I'll figure it out, but I'm so sorry I trusted this app. /sad |
