2024-11-27 | Jorge Freixa | This game is geared to force you to purchase. The progress is painfully slow and there is zero incentive to free play. Gold is impossible to keep stashed as you're required to spend every coin just to survive a dungeon and all the upgrades and purchases are perpetually out of reach with sky-high costs. Grade: F-
2024-11-12 | Abigayle Geisel | I loved Grim Quest and was happy to see there are more games. This one is unbalanced (overly grindy) and doesn't embrace the beauty of simplicity like the first game. I'm trying to get through the initial grievances to see if it gets any better, but I'm not hopeful, especially with the conduct of the creator to people who share my experience. The inability to take any criticism led me to firmly decide I was not making a purchase despite enjoying supporting creators of free games.
2024-09-29 | Rocky Branham | I have officially finished all of the content. Grim Tides, a fun yet lacking experience compared to it's predecessor, Grim Quest. While the story was still excellent, the customization of my character felt limited. Once you've locked into your weapon type (slashing, stabbing) you can only learn the abilities linked to that type of weapon. With forcing us to only use 1 ability tree it severely limits creativity. Also, the ship combat is just a no. Overall, loved the game, but it's no Grim Quest.
2024-09-08 | Money Starr | a good game, especially glad they try their best not to flood with ads. chosen to purchase the ad removal because I like the game and thought there are as few ads as possible I liked the game enough to probably try multiple builds so it'll make things easier in the long run. also, I NEVER spend money on games if I can avoid it, so that speaks to how much I appreciate the game.
2024-09-04 | koitsu | I genuinely enjoyed this game all the way through. No complaints... until the final boss. Needless to say I never finished the game because of how absurd he is. I can't give details because that would be spoiling it, but I can state that the frustration level was unlike that of even old-school RPGs. The game still gets 5 stars from me despite this! I just hope the author tones it down a bit in future games. Looking forward to the next title.
2024-09-02 | Sarah Messerich | I didn't expect much from this game but it hooked me! Very minor ads which is nice. You choose your character appearance, background, and stats. Some of the dungeons are a little grind-y eventually but I love that. Decent story so far, fun encounters. I want to make it through the story with my character first, but I'm excited at the thought of doing a run as a new character later. Really solid game. I'll update the review with any further notes as I play!
2024-08-31 | Brandon | Love the effort put into this. I love the colors/designs and general feel of the game. Even the music is nice. The progression feels really solid as well. EDIT: Final boss fight is insanely difficult and borderline impossible for the build I made. I spent all my gold mixing and maxing new spells to try too. Unfortunate because I put several hours into the game just to get to the last fight. Have since uninstalled and will move on. Extremely disappointing finish.
2024-08-20 | Guy Kishinami | Addictive. Only at level 4 so far but I'm enjoying my time with it. The battles have simple mechanics that give the fights a little more strategy. I can see the irritation with the ads taking a while to show their close X but it does show up after about an extra 10 seconds. Very well done for a quick little sit and run campaign.
2024-08-17 | Matthew M | Update: changed from 5 stars to 4 because its very annoying to keep getting prompts to leave a review after I already have. Also, even tho I do prefer to support the Dev via watching optional ads, these vids are the super annoying extra long ones that require clicking multiple times to dismiss. This is also why I wont be making any purchases. Annoying your customer is bad business sense. Your game is great tho.
2024-08-17 | VonEhrhardt | Fun at first but it gets grindy quickly. Sadly the first dungeon progresses to a point where you have to grind one level over and over again to have any chance of real progression, a seemingly endless loop due to the fact that LEAVING a dungeon costs you money, pretty much all the money you've picked up, and money is required for all areas of progression. This means you MUST find equipment to sell. I've now uninstalled it as a consequence. |
