2024-11-22 | Tom Marks | Where did this come from. I keep getting alerts to enable text with video. Not comfortable with that. I didn't ask for the app and don't appreciate Google just installing it. Disabling the updates was only way I could stop the alerts from constantly popping up. Pissing me off 🤬. I uninstalled it but still there, not in the 'not installed"part.
2024-11-13 | Joseph Brown | Talkback is a disappointment. Yes, it is incredibly beneficial for the blind, restoring basic function, and in that sense, it's a success as an accessibility feature. However, as the only built-in text to speech option for android, it is an incredible failure. There are more use-cases for text to speech than just reading every title, widget, icon, and finally textbox on the screen. Those features that are great for the blind make it utterly unusable for everyone else.
2024-11-04 | Clara Wilkes | #1 🏆Hacking Vulnerability Point🏆 AND YOU CANT REMOVE IT. The only thing you can "uninstall" is updates. "Disable" only hides it (you can no longer find it to turn off the permissions that 👾MYSTERIOUSLY 👾 RE-ENABLE themselves some time after you leave settings). When your devices get breached, they come like sharks. You WILL eventually lose access to ALL accounts. Calls & texts, emails? Rerouted. Ultimately (if malicious enough) you lose everything -including your life. That's where I'm at 😔
2024-09-17 | Meme | I'm pretty sure this is being used for malicious reasons. It has some wonderful features for those who need it. But I believe security-wise some things have been overlooked or ignored because my device shows usage of features I have never used in my Chrome logs. I've never used a switch device or know how. So I'm not positive about this, but based on odd things happening on my device that shouldn't and finding that, I believe features can be used for device access. And not just your own.
2024-08-16 | Rachael R | Dragging around the Text to speak button is really annoying and it feels like it's always in the way. I'd rather it be on the bottom as a button (especially since I don't use gesture controls). Also, during migraines, it would be really helpful if I could put a green color filter on. Unfortunately, it looks like the only color filter options are for color blindness, so I can't do a single color filter easily. If those 2 things were fixed, I'd switch this to 5 stars.
2023-10-15 | Jenni Lee | I couldn't be more upset with your voice reader. I'm in tears over the way it made my phone unusable. I couldn't even scroll to get back to the accessibility settings. I eventually had to search, use Google voice assistant, and pull up "voice assistant". Then cried when I finally was able to turn the nightmare off. Who would want that? Seriously? The level of difficulty in navigating through the phone was on expert and I was a newbie. You need an overlay on off switch or something.
2023-09-20 | Stephen Whelan | TalkBack is awful, the worst feature I've ever seen on any phone ever. It is FAR, FAR too easy to activate accidentally, and unless you know the exact phone magic you performed to turn it on it is IMPOSSIBLE to turn it off. I can't even see how it's useful to people with disabilities, because its two main apertures of control (double tap to activate, two fingers to swipe) are complete garbage, 90% of the time it doesn't register that you've performed the right series of taps. GET RID OF TALKBACK
2023-03-23 | Yvonne Howard | TalkBack came on without me turning it on. I could not access most of my apps, my phone, text (so couldn't get text verification to go into security, email, benefit, etc. apps), alarm system, swipe features to get into protected apps, etc. It was hard but I got into accessories and did a search to TalkBack. I couldn't scroll to accessory features. It took time - I had to keep tapping on toggle to turn it off. It was as if I had a virus on my cellphone.
2023-01-19 | Debra | I think it is not smart enough to be on a smart phone. If the intention is ease of access, it's a failure! Figuring out how to turn it OFF was a frustrating and aggravating experience! I made it to Google Play and tried to UINinstall the thing, but could NOT. I guess it's "necessary" . I truly don't need it, and if I ever do need a screen reader, it will not be this one! The AI voice is monotone and abrasive. I could have screamed!
2021-11-16 | Steven Alan Hix | This is totally unnecessary app. It is a control app . It takes the administration rights away from you and it becomes the administration of Your Device. This app can change any setting. It can make calls erase and change contacts. It has full permission to use up your data. It can and will change your WiFi settings. It has full location privilege. It listens to everything weather phone is off or not. It takes pictures and videos of everything you do everywhere you go. And you can not change it. |
