| 2024-12-02 |  | | I'm now using Google voice as my default call and messaging app but if I use my contacts app and try to text or call from it, it will open the phone's default apps which can not be set to Google voice. This is a big issue if you are using Google voice to forward calls to a different number. I was hoping using Google contacts would bridge this gap. It does not. It literally does the same exact thing as the phone's default contact app. |
| 2024-11-18 |  | | I don't like using Google anything. They rarely work and it seems every week there's some new feature or app I find in my app's list that wasn't there before. No details at all. But If I try to disable it a pop up shows up and says the feature can't be disabled or my phone will not function right. There is over 40 apps and os apps for Google alone. Since I have a Motorola there's 28 features that I also can't disable, and have no idea what their purpose is for. Plus needing to be updated. Absurd |
| 2024-11-15 |  | | I don't know why, but this is the first time I've had MAJOR Issues while using this app. Apparently, "my contacts don't exist". Also, my contacts won't sync. Also, I can't change the contacts permissions, either, as no permissions are denied. It's extremely frustrating that when you get a new phone (Pixel to Pixel), your basic phone features (such as the Contacts app) DON'T Work! I can't edit my contacts at all. And, they are all messed up, too! |
| 2024-10-29 |  | | I think the "Contacts" app is awesome as I have been using it for years without a scintilla of a problem. The only thing I'm not clear on is the "chat" button & I think it is a tool to get you to your contacts. I don't use the CHAT option myself. Just the messaging. I think they are both one in the same unless you're texting with multiple people . But, anyway I think highly of the contact app and wouldn't be without it! John Anderson |
| 2024-10-15 |  | | The app helps organize contacts, however, some of the recent updates are just not desirable. Specifically, photos are automatically placed even though I had a self-selected photo. The "more fields" layout is not clean and easy as it was previously. Lastly, the app automatically merges contacts even though they are different people. For instance, if I have someone named Bob and add another Bob, the app merges the two. Good luck unmerging them! Lots of annoying inconveniences. |
| 2024-09-22 |  | | The app has a great UI with a lot of features but automatically assigns contact pictures to some contacts on my phone. I don't even know where it gets the pictures from. For some people, it assigns the Google profile picture (even though I don't have their gmail address!). Especially for people that I don't know very well, having a picture of theirs pulled into my contacts app (and I don't know how many pictures of mine got pulled into others' contacts) seems very invasive. Please fix. |

However, its search function stops working randomly and will not find many entries. It's an old bug which persists since before 2019, so it loses 3 points for this. Search us essential with a large set of contacts. |
| 2024-08-14 |  | | Before the update it used to work, but now I can no longer enter a global search word in the contacts search bar, for example, search for restaurant, and have it list ALL those contacts that I have saved which also included the description of "restaurant." . Well, today on 8-14-24 I selected to Uninstall the Google contacts app. It removed the latest update done on July 29, 2024 which was automatically done by AI !!. Now everything works again. I will now shut off auto updates for my contacts ap |
| 2024-07-30 |  | | As of a few days ago, when I save a new contact, they are not appearing in Messages by their name. Only the phone number appears. I've spent a couple hours in all, clearing cache, trying to update Messages AND Contacts, restarting my phone several times, etc. Still, nothing. It's incredibly frustrating and I'm considering using a different app for messaging. |
| 2024-05-03 |  | | Useful app but a recent update introduced an unwanted "feature" that is going to require a lot of time to correct. After the update, all of my contacts are now set to route to voicemail. That explains why I am getting voicemail messages without hearing my phone ring! Why would that be the default? Worse yet, there does not seem to be a way to change this setting for all contacts. I have to manually open every contact and change the setting. This is preposterous and ignorant of user needs. |
