| 2024-11-25 |  | | I love Google chat, but I'm not a fan of the bubble look. I'd love it to go back to how it was before. Edit: Google chat's great still, but when it automates the commands (like for bold, italic, etc..), it adds extra work to turn it off on the format settings. It could be better if we had an option to turn off that feature |
| 2024-11-25 |  | | -Thanks, looking forward to future updates so it can be a little more than just a way to simply text people.- I'm not a fan of Google and only use it to text my wife because her phone has a bad network connection, not being able to customize anything even something as basic as a background wallpaper for the chat or the chat bubbles themselves is crazy in 2024. How is it that these days we have less features than ever before. It solves a problem and is the only reason I have it. |

The notifications just pop up, if they do at all, and disappear. Other than not being notified when somebody sends you a message, this app nails it. |

Emoticons becoming emojis seems excessive as a forced feature and removes the personal layer of expression that shouldn't rely on clicking a button every time to cancel this feature. A simple option to disable it could fix this issue. The biggest issue is that "read" receipts don't work for individuals in group chats anymore, and this diminishes the app's effectiveness, even for professional use. |

I was unhappy to be forced to switch over to this app when I opened the old app. I had to delete all the shortcuts to chats that I added to my phone home page. Could there be an "add to home page" for individual chats? Pinning conversations in the app isnt the same. I'm sure getting use to the new app would be fine, but I really want to have that one feature back. |
| 2024-08-29 |  | | Can't recover accidentally deleted messages! My phone unlocked in my pocket (what a great fingerprint reader) and a chat was deleted by accident. Turns out there's no way to recover. Ugh. Years of history with a deceased relative gone in an instant! Google is no help. A recycle or trash bin is pretty basic stuff. I guess googled gaf ends once they've gotten to scan our data. I'm gutted. |
| 2024-08-17 |  | | Used it for about a year in place of WhatsApp..... Not nearly as good. Photo compression sucks, it sends it full size. Can't even attach a contact to a message or transmit a contact which makes it lame. On the positive it is synced for search with all other Google stuff, but that was the only advantage. Also hated the fact if I had a company team, I had to use that email address and could not see messages from two accounts without logging out and back in again, too easy to miss messages. |
| 2024-08-15 |  | | Great app. It's literally just a text app, except instead of being connected by numbers, your connected by email. One great feature that you may not notice is that you can tell what the other person has viewed and not viewed in the conversation. Also, I love how it's compatible to the browser version. |
| 2024-08-09 |  | | It's awesome and all, but there is one problem with this app, when i send a text messages it delivers it but the person I sent it too that lives far away from me, the person doesn't get the message but it says it's sent but they didn't see it or got a notification, can you fix this problem??? This is a little hard for me to communicate with my best friend on Google Chat. |

Incredibly frustrating especially when trying to stay in constant contact with someone. I had a situation where I couldn't use Google chat in an international airport and caused my family to panic. It's been reported for months but no fix; none of the suggested fixes work at all. |
