2024-11-24 | Jim Simon | If I could give this app negative 5 stars, I would. It's complete garbage. Be very careful if you save any type of highlights or notes or any type of annotations. If anything happens you cannot get them back. It has an option to save your annotations to Google drive but there is no way to import them back into Google books. So Google books is a total piece of garbage be very careful. In fact just delete the whole damn thing and use a real book then your notes and highlights won't disappear.
2024-11-22 | Rakeith Woodson | First off, love the free books. I use this for productive use. Keeps my mine focus when I don't have anything else to run to. Consider this app for AI software. Still trying to tie the two for comprehension. I gave the app 3 stars because it still in process of being in human understanding. Rooting the software for a rich outcome for Google, Google developers, and Good software. Thank you third party!
2024-11-21 | Vince Hancock | In the last six months, I've found that my highlights/notes are having problems. 1. In one case, suddenly the notes were simply gone. I have a backup in my Google Drive, but can't seem to restore them. 2. In another case, they did not export at all, and I don't know how to "manually trigger" that, if there is such a way. In this case, the page numbers have not been saved with the notes. "Cover" is somehow saved as the page number for all the notes/highlights. What gives?
2024-11-21 | PurpleGermanShepherd13 | This app is a good place to keep and read my ebooks. I only have two problems with it; one, you can't manually sort books that are in a Shelf. And two, even though I have the "For You" notifications off, I still keep getting popups for price drops on books I don't want. Not going to be a crybaby bigot over it like some people, though. However, these few issues are not that big of a deal, so I gave the app five stars.
2024-11-20 | Leilani Lori Ziniewicz | Bookmarks no longer work properly. I set a bookmark and it's only visible if I'm on the page that is bookmarked (upper right corner of page). I used to be able to see all bookmarks I'd set in a book by clicking on any page to see the progress line at the bottom of the page which showed all bookmarks set. Now it shows no bookmarks at all no matter how many I've set! That's why I only gave 3 stars. I've used this app for years and have loved it. Please fix this issue. If fixed it's a 5 star app.
2024-11-19 | Lee Waters | This app is really quite bad. The primary functions ad I see it are 1) a store 2) a library and 3) an e-reader. 1) On a Pixel 9 Pro I'm not even able to interact with the search field (it's beyond the margins of the touchable area) so can only shop by browsing. This must be a bug. 2) I am not able to see books I purchased on other devices. I'm sure there's some workaround for this but why should it require a workaround? 3) I can't review the e-reader functions but my expectations are quite low.
2024-09-08 | Monique Martinez | They would not cover the cost of my book (purchased and owned for 2 years) when the Book ID suddenly changed and I was expected to buy it again. They would only refund the amount that I paid years ago back when it was $4 and now is $10+ dollars. I've been using Play Books since 2015 and now no longer use it due to their unwillingness to cover the cost of my favorite book. It was not even my fault that the Book ID changed but I was expected to repurchase for more $. Absolutely ridiculous.
2024-08-16 | William Darnell Sr. (GrandpaSwagger_FrenchFrys) | Google Play Books to me, is a great digital book, library edition for any reader on any device. Its interface is easy to understand. However, it can be challenging for some who may suffer from certain brain conditions. The outside looks have a brand emblem that's crisp in colors. Now, I have to be candid, but I have bought some of my fav authors' books, samples, etc. But honestly, I don't like to read and I'm a writer, published. Yikes, I said that out loud! 🙊 Great Book Library, Google. 💯
2024-07-16 | Mike O. | Good user interface, with night mode, variety of fonts and text sizes, intuitive reader app. I knocked off 1 star due to annoying and unwelcome book recommendations with very few configurable options. For example, every time I open the app, it pitches all kinds of queer and multiple gender nonsense that is downright insulting. When I mark every one of them as 'not interested', they disappear from the list, but the next day they are back in my face, every single one of this garbage literature.
2024-06-21 | Yaakov Smilovic | I often listen to audiobooks in the car when I'm going to work or on the way home. If I stop for whatever reason and get back into the car, 9 times out of 10 the app won't start playing my book again, a problem YouTube Music doesn't seem to have. The app often crashes or just pauses for no reason. There's no watch support to speak of, even for Google's own watch. The whole experience is just poor and if Google wants me to keep overspending on these audiobooks, the experience has to be better. |
