2024-02-01 | DuckDuckGo IsMuchBetter | 1) There are FAR too few updates!! 2) Too many crashes. Question for Dev...when or is this browser ever going to get regular updates?? 3) There's no way to shut off the ability of the browser to detect your location!! This is something that should be OFF by default! But shutting it off is not even an option! It's outrageous! A HUGE privacy violation.
2022-06-27 | Kire | When I set this browser to Private mode (to purge history) it needs to remain set to that PERMENANTLY unless I change it again. This most important feature sometimes switches off unexpectedly. Super annoying. Also, when l choose full screen video it needs to be completely full screen without the unusual black bar along the bottom. This happens EVERY time. It needa to be fixed.
2021-01-13 | Joey is probably sleeping | Great alternative (additional) browser. I appreciate the privacy & ad-blocking, etc. it provides. I've had it for years & have been v happy with it. In an age in which user data is being collected (often willingly! Or forcibly, in exchange for the use of an app) to an unprecedented extent, it's becoming more & more important to maintain some semblance of privacy & control over what data one chooses to share (for a growing number, that's as little as possible). Ghostery contributes to that cause
2020-10-04 | Z Z | Update Fail. Downgraded from 5 stars. Had to uninstall. The new version is NOT as intuitive as you think. Removing functionality from the tri-dot pulldown does NOT streamline processes. Replacing nearly all the words with symbols or icons without including a legend is cruel. Failing to include an introduction to the changes was just stupid. So, yeah. Update Fail.
2020-09-16 | Joe Pandora | Overall, pretty good. However, I have the app set to clear private data on exit, and it hangs on exit and does not close. UPDATE: the exit issue was fixed with the most recent update, but now the live video is choppy. I used another browser for the same video and it was smooth. Couldn't deal with the choppiness so after using this browser for several years, said goodbye and uninstalled.
2020-09-12 | R Borg | Worst browser update in HISTORY. Which says a lot. They went from one of the best browsers and changed it. I don't care that they added extra paid services. However they seem to have changed the favorite websites. Thereby destroying the best feature. There are multiple privacy browsers. This was my #1 browser. The one i recommended. Probably switching to DuckDuckgo browser as my main.
2020-05-01 | L BeLL | It's okay, I like it and have been using it for years. But this current version seems to have some kind of bug where every so often, I start to see large black blocks covering parts of the screen and then it crashes to the report/restart screen. It usually does this twice in a row before it returns to normal function. It's not a huge thing, but it is annoying and chronic. I've been sending reports on it each time it's happened, but apparently nothing has come from doing that.
2019-08-01 | A Google user | saves history, and remembers past searches to help you auto complete them. no way to turn them off or clear. only way is to uninstall and reinstall. that gets rid of whatever was there but it starts collecting again. support lies and says you can delete this but they don't get it. example, if i type a and a prior search of airport shows up, they are saving it somewhere.
2019-03-14 | A Google user | Since the last update, Ghostery crashes constantly. Almost every time I use it it will crash two or three times during the session. Now one year later and app is unusable. it works fine until I go on a conservative news site, then it's crash crash crash on every page (curious coincidence?) Not worth the aggrevation. uninstalled.
2019-01-10 | A Google user | Update: blocks ads again! Original review: I loved using Ghostery until a few days ago, when I noticed it no longer blocks ads. The little ad counter at the top under the ghost logo doesn't ever change from the word "hello", anymore. It used to tally up all the ads being blocked while a site loaded, and was very satisfying. But not anymore... ☹️ I can send screen shots of sites where the ads are still there, if needed. I'd love to use it again, but there's no reason to if ads aren't blocked. |
