Update: latest update massively improved performance, so I am updating my review to a 5. Good app, stellar publication. Old review: I love The Economist as a publication. But their Android app has absurdly bad performance. Long load times, unresponsive UI, articles take several taps to open or don't open at all, etc. There is no reason for a news app not to be snappy and quick. Once performance improves, I will change back to a 5.

Makes me want to cancel my subscription. It doesn't connect to cars or headphones well, so if you try and fast forward or rewind through parts of an article, it just skips to a totally new article. So to use it, you have to keep your phone open and in your hand at all times. They updated the app amd still didn't fix the issue. how hard can it be? an ai coding program could probably do it for free for them. at this point it's just laziness or they need to hire new coders. it's pathetic.

Nov9 update: least favorite app on my phone. Please fix. After latest update, app is pausing or crashing in the background during audio playback. Please release version 4.x for Android as soon as possible. V3.6 is horrible for audio. 1) after the end of an article, about 50% of the time the the next article does not play. When I open the app it throws and error and asks to Close or Retry. 2) Switching to another app during playback almost always results in audio pausing or the app crashing.
