2024-11-27 | Michael Wong | Nov 2024 Review Update. Great cabin management and navigational aid with many shortcomings. (1) Poor Android optimization with frequent crashes, (2) lack of updates compared to iOS: Printable Navlog was added in Dec 2023 when iOS got it Nov 2022, still unable to load instrument approach procedures, (3) scratchpad & chart annotations needs a pen/color/eraser toolbar instead of the clunky pop-out widget, (4) no S-Pen support for quickly erasing. Highly recommend getting an iPad instead.
2024-07-06 | Joseph Jones | Overall I've had a good experience with the app. Like other's have said. The startup is slow. really slow. I use an external GPS (Garmin GDL50). I haven't had any problems with that. After one of the updates this year all my plans and pilots in the app disappeared. Contacted support. they said to log and and back in again. (that fixed it). My biggest complaint would be the android version lags behind the IOS version. I"d give it more stores if they were in parity.
2024-01-26 | Fedor K. | Despite some issues with slow start-ups and occasional crashes, the app mostly worked fine for me for the last 10 years. But since the update about a month ago it takes extremely long time - 30+ minutes - to acquire GPS location from the internal GPS (Samsung Galaxy Tab S3) even when stationary. Even after Google Maps and other apps already show my precise location, Garmin Pilot still says "searching for satellites". Most recent January update 8.4.3 didn't fix the problem.
2023-07-05 | P x | Poor quality. Did not use the app for couple of months, renewed subscription and noticed how much slower the app has become. Same hardware that I used before, but now app is painfully slow on both phone and tablet. Chart resolution seems higher than before, but slowdown is unbearable. Sometimes app gets stuck at startup while "downloading required downloads". I had to delay one flight by about an hour just to reinstall the app on tablet and phone because both were stuck on the start screen.
2023-06-28 | Ozgur Aral | Absolutely love it on my Galaxy Tab S8, which adds the extra benefit of the stylus on split screen for taking notes without switching away from the map. Love the split screen widget tool. Planning is easy and love the ease of filing. Interface is snappy and well organized. Simply a nearly perfect EFB, and runs on the more flexible and versatile Android Tab and Phone. Will go back up to 5 stars once the recently introduced performance issue on split screen with the scratch pad is resolved.
2023-06-12 | Charles Minter | The android support is minimal compared to their support for Apple. Can't add over lays from my files on the maps on android, but I can on Apple. One would think that they would increase the android features since foreflight is Apple only. Made the switch to foreflight so I have a satellite map. Garmin pilot doesn't have it. The big issue is they increased the price from $79.99 in 2021 to $99.99 in 2022 and now $109.99 in 2023, and they gave 0 extras for the price increase money hungry rats!
2023-05-13 | Jon D | With the current version, I constantly run into bugs: right now, there's a lot with weather - TAF's don't display properly. If there's a TEMPO or BCMG, it gets left off the raw format (I now have to use a separate app to get TAF's because of this). Also, about half the time winds aloft and forecast discussion don't even show up.
2023-04-07 | Lex Leonard | Buggy. Can never refresh the weather. Now it says I don't have the subscription to view A/FD charts. Pretty sure they don't have a subscription without that. Edit: at this point it won't even start. It's just stuck checking for downloads. The app has gone so downhill it's starting to become entertaining just seeing how they manage to out-do themselves with new bugs.
2023-02-13 | Michael Newman | Pilot would get a better rating if many releases did not break it. My most recent failure is that an installed and working copy demanded a new download which failed. Uninstalling and reinstalling now hangs at startup and crashes thereafter if "Force Stopped". I am AOG without charts at this point. Fortunately this did not happen when on a trip and I only lose the use of my aircraft until it gets fixed. Now on the third day after reporting the issue to support. Now on the third month, 4th release
2022-11-29 | Tom Daly | Something is always broken. Every update breaks something important. I have used this for 3 years and it is still the best android EFB. I have the premium subscription and they're is always a key party that doesn't work. This week it was ADS-B connectivity. I carry 2 Garmin units, GDL-50 and GDL-39. neither would connect. Fortunately my phone had not updated and read able to fly the first leg. If you use this app, you must b technically savvy enough to find and install and older version. |
