------ What is Km97 - the SUM railway tollbooth ------

Km97 was born in 2010 thanks to the passion and work of the SUM association. An old disused railway toll booth renovated and used as a physical space for the association, where - in addition to rosemary, figs and vines - music, creativity and independent culture are cultivated.
The toll booth, which stands on the Lecce-Martina Franca railway line, is a symbol of the redevelopment and regeneration of urban spaces, which in recent years have increasingly been made available to young people and their ability to do. Km97 is growing day by day and, from its opening to today, has hosted many musical groups from the regional and national scene, theatrical performances, photographic and pictorial exhibitions, book presentations, short and feature film screenings, working to strengthen the network between associations and active collaboration for the promotion and dissemination of cultural initiatives in the area.
Inside the roadman's house, surrounded by a lush garden available for cultural events and initiatives, Km97 is many things:

Rehearsal room and recording studio
SUM offers three rehearsal rooms and recording rooms with direction and post-production studio, for the use of musicians, professionals and enthusiasts.
After years of experience in supporting local musicians, organizing concerts and designing and promoting compilations (SUM Vol. I, SUM Vol. II and SUM Vol. III) of emerging bands, the association continues to work on alongside music and those who make it, giving the opportunity to take advantage of multiple services.
Live space and indoor meetings in winter and outdoor in summer, available for concerts, meetings, book presentations, events, theater and dance performances, private parties... and of course there is also a bar.
Music archive of the Italian independent Apulian production of the last ten years, where you can find, among other things, the three compilations of the emerging bands produced by SUM.
Exhibition space where you can organize exhibitions of paintings, illustrations, photographs and anything else that can embellish the walls of the toll booth.
SUMedizioni Literary archive a small library of the independent national publishing houses and of the SUM edizioni publishing house.
