2024-11-14 | Amber Virtue | For those that mention they try to cancel and it doesn't show up as a subscription under Google, beware. Had this happen to me on a different app. I downloaded one from a 'siater' app and was under the impression since I went to google, it was through them. Made sure from Google it was cancelled before the end of the trial. Next morning I got a charge for $50. I had to cancel from the website, which no one was honest about. I had to cancel my debit card to stop the thieves
2024-09-12 | Jeffrey Keil | Overall good product, but there are two simple features that The app really ought to have, 1. The ability to click the title you are currently playing and go to its front page, sometimes I want to add or remove it from my library and I have to go type in the title in order to find it and do that. 2. The ability to sort your library by topic/genre. Also would like a bullet point visual at the end of blinks to list each point, would make it easier to go back and refresh oneself on them quickly.
2024-08-26 | Nancy J. Smyth | I like key point summaries of books. Sometimes a summary is all I need, and other times it motivates me to read the book. 3-stars because Blinkist is using AI for some summaries: I find these very hard to listen to, they interfere with my ability to focus on the content because the phrasing + lack of emotion in the voice make it hard for me to focus on the content. At a minimum, it should be transparent about which summaries are AI voices and which are human so we can choose the format.
2024-05-31 | Breeonna Minter | Blinkist makes it very hard to cancel my membership. I go on the website, tap on manage Subscriptions so I could cancel, and it takes me straight to my google wallet app 🫠. (I don't have it set up at all...) Maybe I need to set one up to access my subscription, I'm not entirely sure, but the process sure is dumb af.... the subscription doesn't even show on my Google play app either, so I don't know what's going on there... 🤦🏾♀️
2024-05-29 | Charlie Oliver | The new design of the app is TERRIBLE. They removed the feature that made Blinks easily digestible (text on cards that you swipe left to read through). Now, all of the text of the blink is in ONE LONG page with the audio player at the bottom taking up a quarter of the page (a horrible experience for people who just want to read the blinks and not deal with audio). Canceling my subscription after being a paid subscriber for several years.
2023-08-01 | Steve Goss | The Android app does not appear to update with activity done through the web interface, even though the web interface will update with activity that you do in the Android app. This is very annoying. The service and content is good, but the app is lacking, sadly. Update: contacted support and they just told me to log out and log back into the mobile app to update progress. You have to do that every time. Ugh.
2023-01-20 | Katie Knutson | The free version is great - one can get the summary of one curated book each day. Though $80 / year is a great price for access to so many book summaries. You can either read or listen to them. I especially love that the last "chapter" of each book is a recap of what you just learned from their summary. Honestly, I wouldn't complain if the blinks were a bit longer and included a few more examples to express the main points from each book.
2022-11-14 | Vijay Rajanna | Updated Review: After the app update on February 2, 2018, I chanced my rating to 5 from 1. I am extremely satisfied with the updated "audio download" feature. It is fast, reliable, responsive, allows multiple downloads, and works as expected. Overall, this is a huge improvement in various aspects of the app. Also, the customer service at BlinkList actively responds to the customer queries. Now, I can confidently RECOMMEND BUYING THE PREMIUM SUBSCRIPTION. ****OLD Review: Being a premium member of Blinkist for the last 2 years, I am writing this review with a lot of disappointment. To begin with, the idea behind Blinkist is brilliant as people could learn various things, improve their knowledge in their spare time of 10 to 15 min. However, Blinkist is failing in execution, for e.g., this app. I gave it 2 years and waited they would improve the usability and stability of the app. But, it's a huge disappointment. The app crashes often, you just can't download some audio books, responsiveness is slow as hell, cannot really download multiple books simultaneously, and the list goes on...
2022-10-20 | Ted Chaffman | Love the app and service. I have 3 "bite-sized" ideas for big improvements: 1) Focus on different ways to present and organize the library, including by genre. I have over 200 books saved, probably more than 70% of which I've NEVER opened. So I wish there was a library feed with its own organic way of reintroducing us to blinks we've saved. 2) Player widget like Spotify or Audible, so we can control and see what we're listening to from our home screens 3) Comment/react to blinks in shared spaces
2021-10-19 | John Thomas | While the concept of a blink is cool, the execution of this app is not. It is cluttered and clear they don't know what they want to be. I signed up for blinks. Not audio books. Not podcasts. I already have services for those. Their recommendation are so far off it's not even funny. They force some random blink to play after what you are listening to instead the next thing in your library. I built a library for a reason. Stop trying to force other things down my throat. |
