Content is from the BBC, and I almost always think the quality of that is excellent. But the app itself: I wish it kept a history of what you've listened to (like YouTube does). I also wish you could configure how many seconds the back and forward buttons take you: 20 seconds back is a lot if you've only missed a phrase and want it repeated!

They've gone and broken the thing again. Constant loop of telling me to sign in, then crashing out of their own sign in process. The actual audio is often great, of course, if you can get to hear it. Update: still not fixed, and the BBC help website is worse than useless.

Nov 2024 - love the shows but the feedback below still stands. Oct 2020 - my review below stands, no improvement to Sounds in a year. Love BBC radio and podcasts, don't like Sounds!!! Oct 2019 - Not flexible enough. Should grey out shows with no current episodes. Should be able to sort alphabetically or by latest episodes (as iplayer did). It's not just because it's new, it's just not up to scratch yet! Annoying to be fobbed off on Feedback too!

Great app, library and live streams. However, whenever I play something, my phone vibrates constantly 😡 The app is triggering the notification haptics for some reason, all the time that something is playing. @BBC please fix this! If I turn off notification haptics in my settings I can get around this, but then I miss calls and messages as my phone is always on vibrate.

I can listen to what I want, basically when I want. it's great to explore all the possibilities available. I have access to so many interesting subjects - and music. I have .y favourites, and sometimes get stuck with those. On the whole, along with my blue tooth speaker, I need no other entertainment. I would like a few more detectives, not necessarily factual though

As with other recent reviews, I'm annoyed that the app has changed by now defaulting to Radio 1 rather than last station played, and to first thing in morning rather than current time. I sent them an enquiry about it 2 weeks ago, but they haven't replied. Hope they change it back. Update: this has now been fixed and reverted to original, I'm pleased to say

Was working fine til latest update. No longer opened on the last radio channel I played. Uninstalled and reinstalled it. It asked me to sign in. Recognised me with a big button "Continue" which opens a page displaying "Sorry, the page you are looking for cannot be found!" I can log into my BBC account, but the BBC Sounds app doesn't recognise me anymore. Resolved, but keeping the 2-star score: the app login process doesn't support Brave as a default browser: only Google Chrome, less secure.

Still no good for podcasts. If I drive somewhere with no cell cover I stop listening----- . If I am going to be bullied into using it as a podcatcher, you might al least make it work like one - the "my sounds" page needs to be organised heirarchically by title, and things like "mark all played", "keep latest n episodes", "auto download" want adding. Recently it has taken to making the whole phone reboot while it is playing. 2024-11-09. Just been asked to rate it. It still just as bad

PLEASE, BBC, READ THE REVIEWS AND FIX THE APP! After playing 2 or 3 podcasts, it just refuses to respond. Doesn't matter how many times I hit 'play', or close and reopen it, NOTHING HAPPENS. Having to constantly uninstall and reinstall and it drives me absolutely nuts. And this has been happening for a few years now. BBC, it's time you DID something as I first raised this a VERY LONG time ago and precisely NOTHING has happened.

There are so many annoying things about this ap, but the BBC makes it hard to listen to their programmes elsewhere. Play speed resets all the time, it doesn't have automatic deletion or automatic downloading, you can't reorder podcasts in your stream, they dump a whole series at once rather than spacing them out... I'm sure there's more but that will do for now. 3 stars because the programmes are great and at least you can download and change the speed
