2024-12-14 | Orrin | This is a super useful app. I just wish it had a quick toggle on the quick settings shade.
2024-11-13 | Simon T | There were many times when connection failed when using free wifi. Not sure why, hope they fixed it.
2024-10-06 | L M | Lacking many features iOS has. Like only connecting when on non-white listed WiFi networks. So it becomes a pretty basic slow VPN. But still very useful when needing a home connection or non-flagged local IP instead of public VPN
2024-06-16 | SR | Really useful for being able to access PC's on my home network without having to have open ports exposed on the Web. Easy and convenient to set up. Have a few issues where if I haven't used my phone for a while the van will disconnect but get stuck in a loop, my phone won't have Internet till I've force closed the app and restarted.
2023-08-17 | David Greatorex | Update Turns out the Asus Route app needs to be installed first. The app should check or at least advise this as a prerequisite. --- Android app not working it finds the router but goes in a loop that public IP is required and sometimes that the router isn't supported.
2023-01-07 | Kewlzter TC | I don't know what this is or how it works. I thought it was a router based VPN that directly connects to my router no matter where on the world I am. However, it only works when I'm at home connected to my routers wifi. What's the point? Info and documentation is scarce.
2022-12-26 | Eli | At one point this app was working great back in the summer time. I don't know if there was an update after that broke it some how, but it's starting to be pointless using it now. When I connect, it states you are protected, but I have no internet when I'm away. I know I set it up correctly on both the router and app. Until they do something about it, I configured my own Wireguard VPN connection, which is working flawlessly. I had high hopes with Asus, I hope they are not letting us down now.
2022-11-16 | David | It works fine lately. I really wish it would automatically turn on and off whenever it's connected to the home router or away from it. It seems to bog down when it's active and connected to the router. It also uses allot of phone battery when active. Streaming services also have a hard time sometimes when it's active. That could partially be due to the DNS setup of the router but locally connected Wi-Fi streaming devices seem to work correctly through the same router.
2022-10-12 | WM | Streaming videos, TikTok, or music can crash the router (RT-AX86U). To reproduce the problem you can run a simple speed test from a device with Instant Guard (may take a few tries) you'll notice the speed dripping slowly. Eventually your connection to the router will drop as the router reboots. When Instant Guard reconnects again it's extremely slow, you have to turn it off. I contacted Asus support the router. Last I heard they seem to understand the issue. No indication if they'll fix it.
2022-09-17 | Anthony Anant | I bought an Asus router specifically for the instant guard feature. The router app itself is fine, but once instant guard is involved, everything hits the fan. The most common error is "operation failed," with no hint as to what the problem is. Don't buy Asus routers specifically for this feature, otherwise they are fantastic in most other aspects. |
