2024-10-10 | Steve Jones | Great app. I enjoy using your app. Is there a way to add coordinates to a photo as well as elevation at the point of taking a photo? It might be that the coordinate of a photo is stored within the photo - not sure. I'm a volunteer for a community group and it would be great to have the coordinates on the photo to share info more easily. For example, we have fire ants, an introduced pest, and I've been working with government officials to identify locations of their nests for treatment.
2024-08-17 | Green Lungo | It works so well! It accurately senses the elevation change from dropping off a desk to the foot! It auto-fetches the altimeter setting from the nearest airport. It also lets you tune the calibration to get measuremt to agree with a position at known elevation, like if you're at sea level.
2024-07-01 | Benyamen Asih Christo | Pretty accurate if I use only barometic pressure. I move the phone 2 metee upward and the altitute increase 2 m But today when i am opening the app is always not responding...and my android warning that the app is still running in background
2023-10-19 | Nick Barnicoat | Generally pretty good - I've tested it against known altitudes. I suspect that the GPS location is a bit broad as it can vary a lot on a slope, even when travelling level.
2023-08-24 | Jim Alien | The app connected to GPS a couple of times after I had first installed it, but thereafter it has always failed to locate a GPS signal from multiple outdoor locations. Rebooting my phone, stopping the app, clearing the app data has had no effect. The location based altimeter gives a figure, but this information is available online for free. My phone doesn't possess a barametric sensor, do I cannot say if that part of the app works.
2022-10-16 | Robert Wiggin | The best altimeter I have found, and I tried loads. I am using it on a Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra so it can use the barometric pressure sensor. On opening it finds the nearest airport, downloads its data and uses this to update the offset. With this I get an altitude within 30 feet of true (best possible if using whole millibars). I had to get the pro version to set a calibration offset because my phone sensor was nearly 2 millibats out but that is fine. Most apps can't be calibrated anyway so I
2022-06-21 | Bruce Radway | I wanted to test the accuracy before trusting the app so I walked into a low creek bed and took my altitude. Walked to the high bank of the creek, retook altitude. There should have been a 10-15ft increase in my elevation, instead there was a 2ft decrease. Pretty disappointing for an app with +5M downoads
2022-02-28 | J R McGee | Excellent for relative altitudes. I would not trust it for aviation or even climbing. But for hiking and routine navigation and validating location on topographical maps it's really good.
2022-02-05 | Mattthesparky | Not accurate... Depending on what you call accuracy I suppose. I held it in position above my head and it said 10m, walked down a flight of stairs and put it on the ground and refreshed it and it said 13m. So probably 6-7 meters out at least. Fine if you're hiking, no good for accurately working around contour lines with precision.
2021-09-14 | John Lyons | Over all, the Accurate Altimeter is very cool. It is extremely sensitive. When I raise the altimeter ( my phone ) above my head the altimeter value supplied by the app increases by 2 feet. The free version of this app is good for relative altitude measurements, not absolute ones. I drove to the airport this ap uses as a reference. The known altitude at this airport is 634 feet above sea level, but the app measured 614 feet ( off by 20 feet ). |
