Every time I download a new book and its audio version, the sound and the page lines don't match up. I have to uninstall and re-install Kindle to get everything to match up again. This has been going on for years. Lately, if I leave a book that's attached to Audible, when I return to the book, there's no audio unless I close the app. Then I re-open the app, and I'm supposed to download the audio. I close and open the app again, and everything is normal.

Wish I hadn't updated the app to this buggy version. Of all the problems, the worst one is that the behavior of the device “Back” button has changed when the user is browsing lists of titles in the Kindle store. In previous versions of the app, that button mostly functioned identically to the “Back” arrow at the top of the app screen, taking the user back one step. But now, it kicks me out of the app entirely, so when I forget out of long habit and tap it, it takes me forever to get to my place.

This app is really buggy. I really dislike that when you are reading a book, it skips pages. It makes me feel like I'm not reading those pages. Plus I have to refresh it every time to get the margins to go back to normal. Even with a bigger screen it skips a bunch more pages. You really need to fix this issue.

Why did they stop using the tablet mode on the opened screen? The best part of having a folding screen on Kindle was to have two column reading mode. I know you can turn the screen and have it but I like to semi-fold the screen with the fold and have the two columns, one on each side. Please go back to giving us the option of a single or two columns on this phone.

BRICKED my tablet! New tablet. 1st app installed is Amazon Kindle. Opened the app requiring my Amazon credentials. Must be confirmed by PIN via text message. Amazon texted the wrong PIN. The input form for the PIN is max-full-screen. The only way to exit the screen is to enter the correct PIN. I have tried a safe mode boot. Same thing. The swipe on the lock screen opens the PIN form that you cannot get out of. The tablet is now a paperweight.

Every so often, there's something wonky with this app. This time, the reading progress at the bottom of the page disappears if I leave the app without closing it and return. I can get it to come back when I close the app and reopen it. Recently got a new phone and same thing, so I don't think reinstalling it would do anything. It's annoying to have to shut down the app every time I stop using it.

Love kindle so far, HATE the kindle storefront, it is baffling that software can be this dysfunctional in 2024, it feels like navigating a government website, it would probably be quicker to walk the 3 miles to the bookstore than trying repeatedly to get the app to try to figure out how to process a credit card number. Oh well guess I'll read a different book I was lucky enough to get while I wait for the stars to align in just the right way to purchase this next book! Love everything else tho!

I have the same issues many others have posted here since the last update. The audiobook downloading and syncing is awful, really always has been but is even worse now. It had gotten much better after a previous update, but then they did this one a few weeks ago and it's back to being miserable. Just cancel your kindle unlimited and use Libby, that's what I've started doing since they won't fix the audiobook download/syncing issue.

Edited review from a few years ago: Glitches have been worked out. I just wish you could purchase books in the app. Very glitchy. I've been using this app for years, and all of a sudden now it hardly works for listening to audio books. Atleast half the time I open the app, my audio is not available to listen to. I end up having to uninstall and reinstall the app to get my audio downloads back. It's very frustrating, especially since I listen mostly while driving.

There are some changes I'd like to see made to the Notes system to make it more robust, but other than that I have no complaints. I use the mobile, Fire (don't know if those two are different or not), Windows-based, and web versions of the app and they all synchronize seamlessly.
