What is the Avalokitesvara Avalokitesvara?
Avalokitesvara lottery is a Buddhist/Taoist ritual to ask the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara a question or prayer. This ceremony requires the use of a bamboo stick tube numbered 100 and a pair of "cups". The cup is a pair of moon-shaped wooden blocks, one side is convex and the other side is flat.
After praying to Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, the believers took out the sticks and cups and went to the Buddhist hall. First of all, use the cup to determine whether Bodhisattva Guanyin is willing to answer the questions of the believers, and throw the cup until one side is flat and the other side is convex. (Before asking for a lottery, first confirm whether the god is on the record. You need to get a Holy Grail. If you get a Yin Cup or a Laughing Cup, repeat this step.)
Believers think about their own problems or prayers in their hearts, and at the same time shake the stick, waiting until a bamboo stick falls out of the stick. Next, throw a pair of cups to determine the validity of the lottery.
If one side is flat and the other side is convex, it means that the sign is valid, and Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara has answered the believers' questions. ("Holy Whisper": showing one convex and one flat, expressing the divine judgment "yes, yes, yes".)
If the two sides are convex, it means that the signature is invalid, and the issue of believers should not be raised again in the near future. ("Yin 筊": showing convex, protruding, which means "wrong, not good, not allowed" by the gods. According to the tradition, it is not suitable to ask for a yin 筊 for any important matter in a short time.)
If the two sides are flat, it means that the problem is not clear enough or has not been decided, and believers can shake the drum again to draw lots. This situation may also occur when the believers already have the answer in their hearts or know that the time is not yet ripe. ("Xiao Yu": showing flat, flat, means that the statement is unclear and cannot be judged. In addition, if the believer knows that the opportunity is not enough, he still holds the mentality of asking for instructions; or the believer has his own opinion and has a fixed number. If you ask this question, you will get a laugh.)
After confirming the valid lottery, believers can get the sign-seeking poem with the corresponding lottery number from the temple. Each signed poem is a poem composed of 28 characters and has a specific meaning. The poem can be deciphered from books (English and Chinese) freely available at the temple.
Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple is a popular religious site in Singapore. The temple is dedicated to the Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, revered as the Bodhisattva of Compassion. Many believers came to offer offerings to Guanyin, pray for peace, and draw lots to solve problems. This application is suitable for translating the lottery drawn from this temple
